San Francisco, I don't have to tell anybody, is without question the most
lovely city in all the world.
And a city with great cultural significance because this is, as you know, the
home, the birthplace, if you will, of hippies.
The hippie movement.
That's right.
And when we knew we were coming to San Francisco, I said, you know, it might be
fun if one day we go to Haight-Ashbury, you know, where the hippies are.
And see if, in fact, there still are any hippies in that area.
And if we could persuade one of these hippies to spend the day with us driving
around this great city in a van.
So that's what we did.
We went at Haight-Ashbury with our videotape crew and we met a very nice hippie
by the name of Manny.
And we spent the day with that fellow.
Watch here now, our day with hippies.
Now, you are a hippie?
I'm more like, I'm like today's version of a hippie.
Smoke a lot of weed?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Are you loaded now?
No, I'm totally sober.
When you're really loaded, what do you say?
I'm really loaded or I'm toasted or I'm wrecked or I'm smashed.
What do you say?
I'm stoned.
Stoned.
You know, maybe we ought to do it here.
Just you and me take a couple of seconds to space out.
You want to do that?
Okay.
Yeah, I space out all the time.
All right, let's space out.
Let's go to lunch.
Take you to lunch.
Anywhere you want to go to lunch in San Francisco.
Whatever you want to do, we'll take you there.
Hey, Friday's rules.
Check it out.
Friday's rules.
Friday's rules.
Check it out.
Friday's rules.
Friday's is the ruliest place in the world.
Exactly.
Good one, Manny.
Totally.
You tried one on your own.
Nice going.
You like beer, Manny?
I like dank beer.
Dank.
What is dank beer?
Dank beer's good beer.
So dank is an adjective?
It modifies beer?
Dank means good?
Yeah.
Right.
And what is bad, then, if dank is good?
Swag.
Swag.
Cindy Crawford.
I don't know.
She was kind of dank.
Yeah, kind of swag now.
I mean, she's getting kind of swag.
Yeah, she's leaning to the swag.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What about Naomi Campbell?
Dank.
Dank.
Diggity.
Dank.
Diggity.
Diggity.
Diggity, dank.
Roseanne.
Roseanne.
Swag.
Swag.
Swag.
Okay, let's chill out now.
And when we're done chilling, then let's space, okay?
All right, you want to space?
Let's chill first.
Okay, let's chill.
Yeah, we're chilling out now.
Yeah, we're totally chilling.
You want to space yet?
All right, let's space now.
Just keep jumping all more, more.
What about a Volvo?
Volvos?
Volvos are good, but did you know if you rear-end them hard enough?
No, we're playing dank or swag.
Oh.
This ain't Consumer Digest.
We're playing dank or swag here.
It depends.
What year?
I don't know what year.
1995.
Diggity.
Pretty nice.
Look at that guy, dank or swag.
What do you think?
Dank or swag?
Swag.
That guy is swag.
Check that out.
Hey, dude with the orange.
Hey.
What are you all doing with him?
Manny, come on.
Make your move.
Tell him I want to buy the hat.
Do I want to sell your hat?
Do I want to sell my hat?
No.
No.
Tell him we hit the road then.
Dustin.
Why, you got hat choppers?
Yeah.
We are looking for happening hats.
Oh.
Oh, I might sell my hat to you.
Do I want to sell your hat to you?
You're slick, isn't it?
Yeah.
You know, I tell you what, before we're doing this all right, I need to do one
thing, okay?
You ever get hassled by the man?
Oh, yeah.
All the time.
I just like saying the man.
Now, Manny, if you're a hippie, do you ever participate in like a sit-in?
Like what?
Like a sit-in, you know, civil disobedience.
There's something happening here.
The man is swag.
The man is swag.
The man is swag.
The man is swag.
Actually, I'm heading to Santa Cruz today.
What do you do in Santa Cruz?
Same thing as H Street, but different.
Yeah.
Just kind of hanging, huh?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm on vacation.
How long are you on vacation?
A few years.
I'd like to get you into a military academy.
I'd like to get you into West Point.
Good luck.
Yeah.
You need some discipline in your life, Manny.
That's what you need.
I don't know, Jimmy Carter.
Dank.
Dank.
Yeah.
Ronald Reagan.
Swag.
Swag.
What about Abraham Lincoln?
Abraham Lincoln.
Dank.
Diggity-dank.
You want to meet John Popper, don't you?
Yeah.
You'd like to meet him, wouldn't you?
Yeah, John Popper's like my favorite.
He's like a god, right?
Yeah.
Like a harmonica guy.
Yeah.
He like rules.
I could introduce you.
No way.
What do you mean, no way?
I'm like a big guy.
I could introduce you to John Popper.
It's just David Letterman.
Yeah, but you worried about earthquakes, man?
No, because earthquakes don't kill people.
It's just buildings falling.
Right.
That's right.
Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings.
By the way, Manny, if I find out later you're no hippie, there is going to be
so much trouble.
I'm going to slap a lawsuit on your ass so quick it'll make your head spin.
Do you understand?
Listen to this.
I'll tell you what.
I can introduce you to John.
Maybe get you guys to play together, on stage together, network television.
All you got to do for me is get a new suit, get your hair cut.
Yeah, that wasn't you at all, was it, Manny?
No.
That was not happening.
It was not happening, my man.
I felt like a penguin.
Ah, forget penguin.
What about swag?
What about Clinton?
What do you think of him?
Dank or swag?
Well, if he couldn't smoke pot, right?
Yeah.
Swag.
Swag.
You know, you remind me of somebody, you know?
You, uh, hilarious prop comic Gallagher.
I got a great idea.
Go ahead, buddy.
Let's get out of here before the man shows up.
Get the thing away from him.
He's going to kill everyone.
So, I had a nice day, huh?
Yeah.
Thanks for letting me hang with you, Manny.
Sometimes the light's all shining on me.
Other times I can barely see.
They feel like this could be.
