they're right in the middle of the uh big uh mid-season for all of your
networks of course
you have nbc you have abc you have cbs you have uh fox you have the uh you have
the wb you have
the upn you have many many many many uh television networks now and they all
try to get one big hit
show after another and the way they generate uh generation after generation of
hit shows is they
spin them off for example uh the show cheers remember fraser was a character on
on that show
so now fraser has his own show and uh you know other shows i can't really
remember good examples
now but you know what i'm talking about uh and so i was thinking to myself we
got a blockbuster of a
show right here why don't we take some of the beloved characters from from this
show and give
them their own you know situation comedies right here on cbs so a couple of
weeks ago i went around
talking to folks and we started developing new show ideas for the staff and
crew take a look at the
videotape have you ever thought about having your own show not really well let's
think about it for a
minute if you had your own show what kind of things would you like to do um but
hey what about this
what about this this is kind of a natural what about this where you just uh uh
you touch meat i mean
it's something you do anyway right it comes naturally to you yeah that's pretty
easy yeah
today roast beef
join me next week for smoked turkey
and you know we did that thing with you and rupert where uh it's a little like
with the hidden camera
in the van that kind of thing yeah and i'm thinking alan font you know i mean
he's dead right
alan funt's dead right i think so yeah so why not another like candid camera
kind of thing you know
today we glued a ten dollar bill to the sidewalk here's what happened
but this morning when he said you can't pick it up you moron
you ever talk to any about doing something on the other side of the cameras you
know in front of
the cameras maybe i'd like to have my own show one day you know what maybe we
put you in one of
those things like uh like that the baywatch thing you could be like mitch baywatch
you know what the
baby that would be she was chasing a sand crab and i think she lost track of
where she's so much my pleasure
i can't pick it up you moron it's glued to the ground look at the hidden camera
what do you think about a career in tv uh i never was thinking about you know
what kind
of show would you like to have uh play show with david letterman you'd like to
have like a talk
show sure talk show oh that might be pretty good welcome back to the show okay
