Thank you, Paul.
Very nice.
Thank you, folks.
Welcome back to the show.
It's Christmas with the Lettermans and yet to come on the big broadcast tonight.
We have Brother Theodore.
You like Brother Theodore, don't you, kids?
Yeah.
And tomorrow on this show, Michael Keaton will be here, the woman who plays the
glasses,
Gloria Parker, viewer male and comedian George Wallace.
And we thought we'd take a minute now to let you folks at home get to...
Uh, what is it, Audrey?
Did you tell Daryl he could use the station wagon?
Uh, yeah, it's okay.
He probably just went to the store.
All right.
Um, so what we thought we'd do now is take a couple of minutes for you folks at
home to
get to know the family and let's start with Terry.
Terry, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Well, Dad, I always wanted to be an astronaut.
Yeah, well, that would, that would really be exciting.
Yeah.
But you know, you have that, that inner ear problem, so.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, good luck anyway.
Um, um, Melissa, what, what about you, sweetheart?
What do you want to be when you grow up?
A ballerina.
Oh.
Yeah, maybe someday I'll get tired of those tall and thin ballerinas.
That was, uh, that's a good one, Hank.
That's terrific.
What, uh.
Thanks, Dad.
Yeah.
What, uh, what do you want to be when you grow up, Hank?
I really don't care.
I just pray to God I don't turn out like Uncle Harold.
Well, how about Uncle Daryl?
Uncle Daryl.
Or Uncle Daryl, yeah.
Um.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Uncle Harold is the really nasty guy.
He, we didn't even invite him.
He, uh, we've had some pretty ugly moments with Uncle Harold, haven't we?
Uh, so, so this year we said let's limit it to Uncle Daryl and, uh, and, and,
uh, well,
yeah, let's, let's forget all about that.
Let's do something fun.
What would be a lot of fun for us to do tonight?
Hmm.
Hmm.
I've got an idea.
Yeah?
Let's do the friendly traditions.
Uh, Melissa, we, we've done them once tonight.
Oh.
Then will you sing to us the way you used to?
Oh, no.
Yeah.
Oh, no.
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Oh, I can't.
Kids now.
Oh, no, no, no, no.
Oh, come on.
One song.
All right, just one song.
Oh, and Dad, can we have some of that special Christmas lighting the way we
used to?
Oh, sure, Melissa, come on over here.
I'll, I'll, I'll sing one song.
Hal.
Sorry, sorry, director, uh, Hal Gertner.
Hal, uh, could we have some of that special...
Excuse me, the gurney.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Hal gurney.
Uh.
Hal, uh, could we have some of that special Christmas lighting?
I'm going to sing a song for the kids.
Hal, hal, hal, hal.
Okay.
This will be exciting.
This will be a lot of fun.
Uh, okay.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Let your heart be mine.
From now on, our troubles will be outside.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Make the yuletide game.
Give a shining star upon the highest star.
And have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Oh, my God.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
That was, that was a lot of fun, wasn't it?
Uh, we'll be right back, folks.
Uh, we'll be right back, folks.
Uh, we'll be right back, folks.
Uh, we'll be right back, folks.
