our next guest stars as the new james bond in the film entitled casino royale
it opens november
17th ladies and gentlemen here's daniel craig everybody how's it going pretty
good everything
all right yeah i think you were in a uh a film that i dearly loved road to perdition
yeah you
were uh you played paul newman paul newman's son yeah that that movie was it
was uh great and and
what a tremendous cast and uh i don't know exactly where you were in your film
career when you did
that movie but it doesn't make any difference you had to be uh those guys must
have gotten your
attention paul newman and tom hanks and on and on just a little yeah um it was
i think kind of there
were more oscars on that set than well certainly any movie i've ever been on
before and did you have
a nice uh friendship with the people you worked with yeah yeah yeah i did yeah
no they were great
to me i mean um i mean it was it was one of those situations where i sort of
walk on set and so okay
i've got to kind of keep this together here because uh you know i'd rather kind
of get off the pot with
this one because um otherwise i'm gonna i'm gonna fall on my face yeah that's
acting term yeah
uh what was what was tom hanks like well he's a joy i mean he's i mean he kind
of controls the set
with his sort of exuberance and uh you know makes it just comfortable to be
around i remember we were
filming in uh in chicago just outside chicago and people kind of wait all day
for him and sort of like
sort of offer up their babies for him for to kiss i mean he's yeah he's quite a
man and then uh you
have uh of course uh paul newman and what was he like a dream yeah i mean he's
a big uh he's a big
hero of mine yeah and when you were uh spending time together downtime yeah
yeah he he just likes to
tell dirty jokes dirty dirty jokes yeah introduce him to terry well and and now
uh and now congratulations
you're the uh uh new james bond and your film the first film in europe under
your aegis is about to
open to november 17th how did you hear did you did you want to be james bond
was that anything you ever
cared about james bond was just not you know the the direction i'd chosen for
myself so me too same
thing with me i said i don't i don't see it but now you are him and uh we
always we always do this
we like to go down the memory lane and take a look at the uh previous uh james
bonds and here this is
the guy right there that's that's everybody's favorite i think maybe up until
now he made six of
them he looks pretty cool yeah do you hear from any of these guys now that you
are the new james bond
piers has been great uh he uh i had dinner with him uh last year and he just
said he said go for it
yeah this is george lazenby and i think uh everybody
there's no need to be sarcastic roger moore pretty good here too seven times roger
moore
timothy dalton too yeah and you're right pierce brosnan i didn't realize he had
done four he was four
there yeah
and then we have and this this guy pretty much nearly killed the franchise
talk about a different direction
and then casino royale with daniel craig there you go you're on your way now
and uh sequentially chronologically this this film actually uh predates the the
first one is that how
this works this is this is you as the first time well it's the first book that
ian fleming wrote so
you know the conceit of the movies was starting from the beginning but it means
it gives us a
bit more room to sort of find out who he is yeah are you excited about the film
yeah yeah uh we
have a clip and uh you want to tell people what we're going to see um i think
it's a stairwell bit
isn't it so he's uh he's on he's on his way after le chief who's the bad guy in
the moody uh movie
played by mess mickelson and uh he's just using a moment to sort of get in a
kiss all right this
is a casino royale opens november 17th daniel craig take a look
this is one of my favorite dates that was a mistake i'm terribly terribly sorry
all right it's okay
i got the wrong paperwork some of my earlier work casino royale daniel craig
congratulations daniel
good luck with you nice nice to see you we'll be right back everybody
