hi everybody uh welcome to the barbara gaines show this is our first barbara
gaines show
on the road travel edition yeah and here with me is my guest barbara's guest my
guest i'm filling
in for barbara barbara well wait barbara's not here should we tell everybody
where barbara is
i was told she was getting a mani-pedi i'm i'm dave i was gonna do that but you
didn't introduce
yourself i did i did no no you just said hi oh okay hi i'm mary you don't like
to be identified with
us do you um yeah well sure it's very exciting it's very exciting it's the
first show on the road on the
road and this is the guest my guest barbara's guest i'm dave dave letterman uh
tell them where we are
okay today for our first travel show we are on the roof of trump tower in manhattan
and i'll tell you
how we were able to accomplish this uh a former uh disgraced uh twice impeached
and discredited
and indicted trumpy is still a friend of mine we're still buddies and he said dave
if you ever want to
come up to the trump tower and ivanka and malanka will and eric and trump jr
will show you around so
here we are and walter if you don't mind just take us around and show us some
of the landmarks here of new
york city right there that building right there is the empire state building
and it looks different
in pictures well it's like everything else yeah and then if you keep going i
think in the distance you
see the the statue of liberty is that it down there yeah that's the statue of
liberty verrazano bridge
but it's all happening this is new york city at its finest that's right and uh
and by the way this
is uh the manhattan space program and uh elon musk owns that and it's supposed
to take off some time
around labor day i'm told uh so it's it's great fun to be up here yeah this is
nice yeah yeah trumpy in
addition to being a criminal mastermind yes also a gracious host he's he's been
very kind to me over
the years and and i guess the only real crook i know so thanks a lot don we
certainly appreciate it
now uh two special things today we're outside on the travel show and you're
going to tell us a story
about uh the indy 500. oh my gosh the indianapolis 500 what a race and we had a
team event this year
featuring four cars uh catherine legg christian lungard jack harvey and of
course graham rahal
who this year because of circumstances in qualifying decided he would race for
another team so we had four
drivers three of which in our cars and our fourth team member graham typically
in one of our cars he
was in uh another guy's car uh but still all family and oh my goodness uh what
an exciting uh race and uh
we we uh started all all of our drivers were in the last two rows which if you
know anything about
racing or life if you're in the last two rows it's not great uh maybe not it's
going to be a long day
and it was a long day it's 500 miles uh for heaven's sake but anyway yeah i
have special footage that i
brought from the race kind of a story about never giving up right that's right
once you're in it you
everybody's got a chance when you get out of bed and the second your feet hit
the floor you're in it
you got a chance it doesn't make any difference right so that's racing it's
very optimistic 300 000
people and i brought home some special uh footage you brought a clip yeah i
brought i brought a clip
here roll that clip uh hal
that's a good that's like espn quality video it's high quality video is a high
quality experience
barbara gaines show thing doesn't work out you could be like a videographer for
uh really yeah
sports center that's very nice if anybody at sports center is watching oh give
us a call yeah please do
give us a call but anyway the the race continued and uh what an ending three
red flags and they were only
racing full-on one lap to the checker and joseph newgarden uh passed um marcus
erickson
who would have been the uh first two-time winner in back-to-back winner in
decades or so but it all
it all worked out and uh and now uh as we say on on to detroit and uh i'm just
thrilled to be up here
this is nice do you and trumpy gonna like uh you're gonna stop in and see melania
on the way out oh that'd
be fun we'll see we'll just go not we'll go door knocking i don't think they
want us you know i think
i think what trumpy missed i i won't even say it yeah i better not say because
he has a nice uh he
knows what he's doing they're not here they're down in palm beach yeah i was
just gonna say he doesn't
come to the city anymore no because he's hated that's right yeah all right well
it's been fun i think this
is a good and to push the uh button and ring the bell to subscribe what else
walter do you subscribe or
like subscribe yeah yeah subscribe yeah yeah um and then maybe there'll be more
travel shows barbara
will be back next week shut up
that's right that usually works when you just tell them to shut up oh you can
see the statue
oh that's the empire state no you can see a building down there yeah it's nice
all right
thanks for watching everybody bye barry i thought you did a nice job hey i
think your attitude has
improved being out here on the road it's the sunshine it just does wonders yeah
because we get a lot of
comments about your sour disposition well which you're kind of is that's kind
of your thing i feel like my
job on the barbara gaines show is to make uh weird faces and the occasional
humorous comment yeah and
you i feel like i've lived up to five in the bargain yeah good night bye barbara
oh yeah that's what we do
