wow will lee everybody you ought to get a show or something unbelievable thank
you paul
our uh next guest is an accomplished chef who has a new television program on
the learning channel
entitled jamie's school lunch project ladies and gentlemen here is jamie oliver
good to have you
jamie hi guys you know mr cruz i've just met mr cruz we love mr cruz in england
tell tell people
about the school lunch project what exactly does that mean well the pricey of
that basically about
three years ago uh i decided to instead of being a chef in a posh restaurant i
would work in a school
a secondary school because the kids all in england we've got the most unhealthy
kids in europe they
just eat junk at home and at school and i thought if we can change it at school
we might be able to
turn the scale and get them healthy again i took over one school very rough uh
it's where jude law
went actually and he left because he got hung off the roof ah and um and then i
took over 55 schools
24 000 kids then we did a campaign and then we got half a billion pounds out of
the british government
oh so now is he do we have the same problem in this country as nutritionally
the schools in england
have well england's the worst in europe and america's the worst in the world so
we're doing pretty good
so you know between the two of us we're great countries you know i i have a
theory about it i think
that uh maybe people are just supposed to get fatter and fatter and fatter and
in like a thousand
years from now the average human will weigh like 600 pounds yeah what's going
to happen what's
going to happen that'd just be normal yeah that's exactly right we're evolving
toward that my view
is at school we should i mean we can we can talk about what happens at home and
there's a million
reasons and people are busy parents are busy but at school when that kid goes
into that school
it should be safe it should be healthy and it should be about good habits you
know what anyway
that's good you're right but you know what's uh what i always enjoyed at school
was candy bars
big boy okay uh what are we gonna cook here uh mr mr cruise i would like tell
me tom okay tom if we
can have six scallops and about 10 prawns in that pan please thank you very
much do i use my fingers
use your fingers be proud be a man that's it okay we have a handful of um oh we're
making a a
a laksa a thai laksa which translates as furry purse now basically it's a it's
a thai it's a thai thing
i love it i'd like to help if i could you've got a job okay put that garlic in
there yeah put it right
in there um put that chili in there put that chili in there right one chili one
garlic one little knob
of ginger oh we're gonna put this on here we're gonna put some uh oil some
coconut milk here we go
coconut milk here we go and here we go ham seems to be doing all the cooking
okay hold that
if mr letterman if you can just hold that knob for me yeah okay
can we do a little bit of um i want to see professionalism a little bit of top
we have some
fish sauce here beautiful
okay okay do you think that that do you think that's okay on the gas please sir
okay we've got prawns
we've got scallops they're cooking off oh my gosh oh my gosh
who who who needs a colonic irrigation when you go there my lord okay
okay someone call the sewage works wherever okay we got this rhyme we got the
lax are going here i want
you to squeeze the lime in there thai food it's about fragrance ginger chili
heat a little bit of lime
juice goes in here underneath i have some bowls and um the idea of this is it's
fragrant you've got it's
it's kind of a cross between a soup and a noodle dish i love it now at this
point we have to kind of
correct the seasoning are you all right mr mr chris i'm right here call me tom
mr letterman
i don't feel that good
feel kind of bilious
what does billy it's made full of bile
my god hey paul come on over here what does that look good right my goodness
that's lovely in with the noodles in with the soup then we're going to take oh
that's our scallops
our prawns nice job on top we got coriander it's light it's healthy it's
colorful and but you're not
going to get that in a school are you no no okay all right here taste it up
