our first guest tonight stars in a brand new film titled dream girls oh is this
a wonderful movie
because let me tell you something about this film it's a motion picture and it
has some of the top
stars of the day in it talented talented men and women and it's also a musical
that's all you need
so for for the price of one ticket yes ladies and gentlemen it's like you're
getting two entirely
completely different shows isn't that wonderful yeah like here for example what
do we charge for
the tickets here tickets are free that's right and we deliver on that dream
girls uh opens nationwide
on christmas day here's the lovely beyonce ladies and gentlemen look at how
lovely you look in this
oh my goodness thank you god you're just heavenly for heaven's sakes how do you
enjoy the holidays
you having a nice uh holiday season yes i am i'm going um home to houston to
celebrate with my
family oh that's nice how big a family do you have i have a sister actually two
sisters and um and my
well that sounds kelly who's in destiny's child is grew up with me so she's my
sister um and and she
my sister solange has a son now so i have my nephew and my mother and father
that'll be great sounds
like a nice time and will there be a a big meal do you have a big celebration
with a big dinner and
stuff we do my mother cooks um this wonderful cajun turkey and um i want her to
deep fry it this year
but she she gets these um this big syringe and she mixes all these cajun spices
together and injects
it and it's incredible sounds great yes and and you mentioned deep frying now i
i've only heard about
this i've never seen it i've never tasted it but i know two things one it can
be very dangerous yes
because you you have to have an enormous barrel of boiling oil yes and then you
dunk the yeah yes
absolutely but it tastes great it's amazing definitely and um i would like to
help but i don't want to
torture my family because i'm not the best cook um i remember trying to cook
something for my sister and
um she came to to visit me and she was hungry i said okay i'm gonna sneak away
and try to
cook something so i went in the fridge and i saw some french fries that had
been there for a long time
and they were frostbitten so i got my ice pick and i'm like picking away each
individual fry
and and i put them in the grease and the grease is way too high because it took
too long to put the
fries in the grease and now it's smoking and i'm calling my mom like mom what
do i do and she walks in
she's like what is this it looked like little charcoal biscuits or something
charcoal biscuits
yeah well you know the same thing could go haywire with the the turkey and the
boiling oil
except the fire department comes in this case absolutely yes and recently you
were in africa
is that correct yeah we're in africa i was in nigeria and actually everywhere
all over um africa and i was
able to perform and and i wanted to do something special because um i felt so
so at home and um
i learned the national anthem there which of course i was really nervous
because i learned it about an
hour before it was time for me to go on stage um but it helped because it was
the anthem and you
know i knew that if i would forget then i could always just put the mic out and
they helped me out but
they could appreciate me you know taking the time and i just wanted them to
know that you know i had
such an amazing time it was a life-changing experience yeah and it was a part
of a greater
project is this what i understand having something to do with making water
available to people yes um water
for life um i also um have been in involved with 4664 and um with bono and nelson
mandela and um the
survivor foundation with my mother where um we we are building transitional
housing for for um victims
or survivors shall i say um in in houston that were involved in katrina good
for you that's very
very nice work and you uh are you are you living in new york city now have you
moved to new york city
yes yes i have i love it it's very different from houston but i love it because
i guess wait a minute
you said the difference from new york and houston oh yeah i thought they're
pretty much twin cities
um they're used to you know their own the fast pace yeah so i was able to ride
my bike down central
park and just kind of have that's great a little bit of normal peace and yeah
because i'm on my bike
people just kind of say hello and i keep going and i love that keep moving yeah
uh and this movie
what a tremendous movie this is uh this is uh and and how about guys like eddie
murphy did you did
you know eddie murphy could sing no no i mean well i heard party all the time
yeah sure
but i had no idea oh he he's unbelievable in this he's incredible the cast is
just brilliant it's
you of course it's eddie murphy it's uh uh uh and of course i can't remember
anybody jennifer hudson
jennifer hudson and and jamie fox that's what i was saying and my god what a
great movie it's
incredible i i had the time of my life and you know in between takes it was so
much music could you
imagine jamie fox is on the piano and he's such a great musician and jennifer's
this beautiful big
voice amazing voices coming out and um i learned a lot about acting because
this was my first movie where i
could really challenge myself and i it the hard work paid off this is going to
be a tremendous hit
don't you think thank you i hope so i think so people can hardly wait to get to
see it for heaven's
sakes you want to get out of the house after being cooped up with your
relatives all day
want to want to go do something um and and and uh uh uh well let's show a clip
you know what the clip
is we're going to see no i don't which clip is it oh it's singing yes it is
this is uh it's this is
about uh motown barry gordy and the supremes not about motown barry gordy and
the supremes or a
little bit about those three it's not it's loosely based off of the supremes um
and obviously dina the
the character i played the looks and and um so a lot of the fashion was
inspired by dina ross and the
supremes but the characters are very very different and um i think the amazing
thing for me being in a
singing group and from a singing group knowing all of the things that that the
supremes and aretha
franklin and all of these wonderful artists had to go through for us to be able
to perform everywhere
and it touches on that and friendship and and love and strength and it's just a
wonderful wonderful work
and and do you do you know diana ross i've met her i met her and has she seen
the film you know i don't
know i just i hope she loves it because i love and respect her so much and she
her voice is incredible
she was very very sweet um and you know it was like i had a shrine in my
trailer while i was doing
the film and i watched mahogany and i watched lady sings the blues over and
over again and i saw her
and i was so scared to look at her because it was almost like she wasn't real
and all i saw was
her hair in my peripheral and i'm scared to look at her and she could tell i
was nervous so she came
over to me which was very sweet and i i just love her all right so now the clip
i understand we're
going to see here has something to do with singing yes yes i think it's it's us
doing singing dream
girls all right take a look beyonce nobles there you go there you go very nice
very nice congratulations have a lovely holiday you too say hello to your mom
for me i will and good
luck with the film thank you so much thank you very much beyoncee knowles
