Bette Midler is here with us tonight, and also Harry Shear and Paul Schaefer,
our own musical director.
And Paul, I'm sure you can applaud for Mr. Schaefer.
I'm not used to being over here in the hot seat.
Paul, you have a song. Who wrote the song?
This song was a collaborative effort. All of us in the band wrote it together.
Me, Will Lee, who's not here today.
Thanks, Will.
Steve Jordan, who's not here.
And a big thanks to Steve.
And Sid McGinnis, who is here.
Who is here. Thank you very much, Sid, for showing up.
But we wrote it as a band, and we wrote it for this thing that we're going to
show now, which is not a video.
Not a video.
But it has some things in common with a video.
Some things in common with a video. Now, what's the name of the song?
The song is called Dress Cool.
Dress Cool.
And it was really written in honor of Will Lee.
It's the band's code of honor, isn't it?
That's right. Well, it's really written in honor of two guys in the band.
And Will Lee, who's not here today.
Of course.
And Steve Jordan, who's not here.
Is Steve here today? No, I guess Steve's not here either.
We have Charlie Drayton with us today. Charlie Machine, he calls himself now.
Okay, we're going to see now the premiere of the song and the video, Dress Cool.
Anything else we ought to know?
Well, it was directed by a gal who you may know very well, Meryl Marco.
All right.
Up until now, I think she's only done films where the camera's this high off
the track.
That's right. She worked with animals prior to this.
But she conceived this, came up with the title, Dress Cool, which we wrote, and
then she directed it.
And here it is.
Paul and the band, Dress Cool.
Roll and take 10.
Up at 8 to go downtown.
Special date was going down.
Had to be on time to meet Sade.
She was late, but dressed so fine.
Said, I look great, you look like slime.
Problem's not your personality.
What was I supposed to do?
Thought I had it made with you
Can't forget the words she said to me
Yeah, she said
Dress cool
Dress cool
Like your life depended on it
Dress cool
Dress for success
Look like you really want it
Dress up
Go anywhere
Dress down
Dress down
Like you just don't care
Let your minds be your truth
Dress cool
Dress cool
I saw a picture of my grandpa
He should have seen just what I saw
He was rich, but dressed so right a day
The cat is dead
The point is moot
But if he had been wearing that suit suit
He will surely be alive today
Now I don't want to sound too rude
But I do not want to be snail food
I've got to clean my act up
Right away
Hey
Dress cool
Dress cool
Like your life depended on it
Dress cool
Dress for success
Look like you really want it
Dress up
Dress up
Go anywhere
Dress down
Dress down
Like you just don't care
