Hi, I'm Barbara Gaines, and this is Dave.
Nice to see you. Happy Super Bowl week, ladies and gentlemen.
And, oh, excuse me, go ahead. I know you have time now.
I was going to say, before we talk about the Super Bowl, don't forget to
subscribe.
All right, let's talk about the Super Bowl.
Well, my dream is about to come true.
The Senate and the House have together combined for legislation to turn Monday
into a federal holiday,
the Monday following Super Bowl.
So, do whatever you want. You're not going to work until Tuesday.
And, congratulations. Way to go, Washington.
Yeah, that's not happening.
Huh?
No, that's not happening.
Doing the people's work for us. God bless you on that one.
Okay, the Super Bowl.
Oh, can I turn this into a bit of a personal thing?
Of course.
Whether you know it or not, there's no reason you should,
except that it's pretty well covered around the world.
Every year, I throw a big gala Super Bowl party in, well, this year it's in Las
Vegas,
at the party capital of Las Vegas, my favorite hotel casino, Circus Circus.
And I have a suite of rooms there for two, three hundred people.
And you're all invited to come to my Super Bowl party.
It's kind of like a tailgate, tailgate party.
It takes place the night before, but who's to say it doesn't run right up until
kickoff.
He has never invited me.
I'm not certain of that.
Okay.
I don't handle the invitation.
Sure.
But anyway, if you're in the area, I mean, you were within driving distance of
many, many
populated areas out there in Las Vegas.
Circus Circus.
Just ask for the Dave Letterman party suite and we'll be there.
We open our doors, sun up the day before the Super Bowl.
So that'll be Saturday.
We party all day Saturday, all night, and then Sunday morning right up until
kickoff.
I was talking to a buddy of mine, Roger Goodell Jr.
He's the son of the man who owns the NFL.
Right.
And he was saying, hey, Dave, are you aware of this little regulation whereby
you might get
a team in the Super Bowl?
And I said, what are you talking about?
And he said, if for some reason, and he said, it's never happened, but that
doesn't mean it
won't.
If for some reason the 49ers decide not to play.
Wait, wait.
They just decide not to play?
Let's say the bus breaks down.
Uh-huh.
They're in comfort somehow.
Let's say they get the norovirus.
Right.
And everybody's in the hotel vomiting.
They're not going to play.
Right.
Because everyone, the whole team can't play.
No, of course not.
Or if for some reason the same thing happens to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Right.
And they can't play.
There is a provision where a substitute team would be in the Super Bowl.
Wow.
Yeah.
And this year it's the Indianapolis Colts.
Well, that's your team.
That's right.
So keep your fingers crossed.
This could be, I mean, wow, we're talking about something.
So they're ready.
They're on the grounds.
They're in the hotel getting suited up.
Right.
They're all ready to go.
They're already in Las Vegas.
They're ready to get the call.
Yeah.
Hey, did you hear what happened?
Brock Purdy and everybody has the vomit flu.
And so they hop on the bus and they run out to the stadium.
Wow.
I also heard that the Oakland Athletics are not welcome in Las Vegas.
That the mayor of Las Vegas is telling the Oakland Athletics, stay put.
Get it figured out.
You're not coming.
Because the Oakland Athletics wanted to build their stadium on the parking lot
of Caesar's Palace.
And the mayor of Las Vegas said, nah, it ain't going to happen.
So this is going to be interesting to watch.
So we actually have a program reminder.
That's right.
Be sure to hit the thing and turn on the extinguisher because this is a program
reminder.
Prior to the Super Bowl, Stupid Petricks with Sarah Silverman.
I want to tell you something.
Sarah Silverman is as nice a human being as you're going to run into in show
business.
And funny and talented.
And she puts on the show Stupid Petricks, which used to be a fixture of our old
shows.
It's on TBS.
On TBS opposite the Super Bowl.
So you'll find out who wins the Super Bowl the next day.
Somebody will call you and tell you.
So if you can, try to watch that show.
Screw the Super Bowl.
It's Stupid Petricks.
It'll be on TBS.
Everybody gets $100.
No, don't.
If you watch it.
If you watch Stupid Petricks, everybody.
Gets $100.
No, that's not true.
What do you get if you watch the Super Bowl?
Of course, you're probably wagering.
There'd be no wagering for Stupid Petricks.
I used to say that.
We used to say that all the time, yeah.
But here's my concern.
Will the game, is it possible that the game will live up to the hype?
I also think a lot of people just watch the game for the commercials.
Oh, yes, I've heard that.
All right, I think that's it for our football talk.
Thanks for watching.
Be sure to hit the thing and borrow the deal.
All that.
Yeah.
All right, goodbye.
Good night.
Thanks.
Call us.
Call us.
