our next guest is a very funny man he can be seen on the popular tbs series my
boys which begins
its second season on monday here's jim gaffigan good to see you thank you very
much i appreciate
your uh coming to see us all these years you've always been very entertaining
how's your summer
going it's going great as you can see by my tan so i'm a pale man dave i got
some bad news
i found out i'm too white to be a mormon that was a little bit too white to be
a mormon yes ouch but
yeah i wanted i i told myself i was going to get in shape this summer but you
know i find it really
hard to find time to work out when you don't want to yeah that's like a hurdle
yeah i mean who really
has time to work out i'm exhausted from eating all the time yeah sure i think i
pulled my arm at
lunch really pulled your arm i do have uh i do have the workout clothes you
know which are comfortable
you know to watch television in right you know i always think you know thanks
to nike i'll finish
this law and order marathon yeah of course um but uh but seriously i mean
looking at it objectively you
you have the television show i know you're busy doing a lot of stand-up uh you
have kids so in
in addition to everything else it's not easy of course well you know i am
really busy and you know
i'm grateful for all the opportunities i've had but it's really made me
appreciate things i can no longer
do like doing nothing you know i think i i mean i really miss that yeah sure
you know it's but then again
you it's doing nothing has never really been something you could share with
anyone because
you tell people hey they're like we went hiking today what'd you do i'm like
nothing yeah they're
like you could have come with us i'd rather die yeah rather die rather die wow
i mean i love rainy days
like today you wake up there's no pressure to do anything i'm always like well
looks like i'm not
doing crap today yeah too bad i was probably gonna go kayaking yeah i'll
probably just take a nap yeah
now you take a nap sure uh but tell me about traveling do you enjoy traveling
because in your
business of course that's really a lot of it there's there's an enormous amount
of traveling and you know
to put it in context i'm not really even somebody who and likes going outside
so really yeah i do love
traveling internationally i think it's wild when you see a little kid speaking
a foreign language
it's kind of like uh bonjour mommy this child's a genius yeah
three years old yeah but i do have this i do have this ritual you know i i
travel all around
the country and i i always try and uh after i do a show go to a waffle house
and i don't know if you've
have you had an opportunity to go to a waffle house it's not in 40 years well
if you've if if
people haven't been to a waffle house it's kind of like uh just imagine a gas
station bathroom that
sells waffles here's something you'll never hear in a waffle house nice job
cleaning up you know it's
even the waffle house sign kind of looks like a ransom note you know there's
always a letter out
in case it would be the w so it'll read awful house i see that's where i like
to eat you enjoy eating
there yes uh and uh what about other experiences i mean do you i don't know
much about you but do you
ever go to like a restaurant you really enjoy i try not to yeah i uh i i love
all the food that you
know the the the the food that's bad for you i love fried chicken which cannot
be that good for you
because one of the serving sizes is bucket you know if that's an increment of
surf i mean let's be
serious that is how we feed farm animals you know and i uh i eat a lot of hot
pockets i don't know if
you eat a lot of hot pockets they good i wouldn't describe a hot pocket as good
i would just i'd call it
dangerous you know but what's great is they they introduce a new hot pocket
like every eight
minutes really and uh you know recently they introduced the deli style hot
pocket where they
say it's made with real deli meat and i was thinking oh what the hell kind of
meat you're using before
real devil me oh my gosh well i must say uh all things considered you do look
pretty good well
thank you yeah now the show my boys on tbs begins its second season uh on monday
congratulations
thank you very much always a pleasure nice job jim gaffigan ladies gentlemen we'll
be right back a couple of times
