family oh well it's mom
dad brother sister both babies and all my grandparents there's a lot of folks
in isn't it yeah and is
everybody in show business no does everybody want to be in show business no
really that's that's unusual
because uh the great success it's turning out nicely for you you would think
others would be oh boy i
wonder if i could be that way no they're really they just want to be pretty low-key
low-key yeah well
that's good and you yourself you can't be low-key can you uh no i mean i have
fun with it though i'm
able to just hang out and go places it's funny because like i try to go like
walk in and there's
like a bunch of people outside just waiting right that's never happened to me
that has never happened
i was upstairs
i heard i heard what sounded like young girls screaming like crazy when you
came in everywhere
you go that happens right uh well a lot of places yeah and and do you do you
use the twitter
device to uh update your activity yeah i do um i was thinking do you want me to
twitter you yeah please
yeah what do you mean what do you mean twitter me like i'll twitter like the
late the late show yeah
yeah the late show like late underscore show i don't care just what do you mean
it's it's the
late show i'm dave yeah yeah yeah now what are you gonna where do what are you
gonna do i just
tweet like just say like you're here yeah yeah yeah cool it's fine i mean if
people are watching
they know that you're here it's just cool to let you know to let the fans let
them know okay because
this goes out now before the show okay what did you do it already yeah what'd
you say just said like
i'm just hanging out with my boy dave
yeah come on pretty good now uh you're probably a pretty smart kid right uh
pretty smart yeah you
know what your iq is no yeah are you in school you gotta be in school yeah i'm
in school i have to
do i did school this morning i do three hours a day and 15 hours a week 15
hours a week yeah and
what grade level of stuff are you studying um well i'm in 11th grade so 11th
grade material but what
what is 11th grade is is that a sophomore in high school is that about what it
is yeah yeah or junior
i don't know i don't know i'm canadian
we don't have that stuff we don't know from that no no what do we know
sophomore senior we got we got
grades 9 10 11 12 right sure yeah that's it yeah and uh if uh thanks paul well
yeah any time do you
have do you have plans uh on going to college maybe um yeah i mean right now
just kind of like focusing
like on my music a lot and stuff like that's really like important to me and
like plus it's like this
this movie that i have coming out um it's called never say never it's coming
out in the 11th yeah
well it's yeah it's kind of like my story and kind of like like most people
would just think
like they just put me together some people just made me and like like i'm just
like some factory
like machine right but like this movie really like proves that like i i really
worked hard to get
here and like that's why i just wanted to show that yeah see now i i i never
thought that you had been
just put together oh thank you uh but you know i watched the uh the the film
and uh what breaks my
heart is to see the pictures of you were in your tiny tiny little kid oh you
know you look you look
back at that and you think look at that little kid right there it's it's
different when you have a
little kid like that you know it it creates a different perspective yeah i mean
it's cool like
my you're not married right no oh well i have a like i have a little brother
and sister and it's
cool to see them grow up and they're like babies so it's it's really cool now
do you do you drive do
you have a license yeah i have a license really yeah can you and you can use it
and drive i drive but
like i i like only drive like at home because like when when i'm in like like
places like this like new
new york and stuff new york is is new york is a good place to learn because if
you could drive in new
york city i mean it's like driving in beirut you'll be fine
wow the last time the last time there were that many people outside the theater
it was a fire dave
rally oh golly uh tell me about the the movie how long did it take from
beginning to end when
they were following you around with cameras they followed me around for like
like two months and
like just got behind the scenes footage but like they were able to like come
back to my hometown
and seem like my friends what is your hometown uh stratford ontario it's like
30 000 people
you know paul is from a town called thunder bay thunder bay you know it right
yes i know thunder
bay yeah way up in northern ontario stratford is southern ontario yeah you have
the stratford shakespeare
festival there it's a very cultured town he comes from yeah very high-minded
culture there
again thanks paul yes anytime all right what i like him a lot we love paul when
now when you
were a kid living up there with your family uh musical influences uh canadian
performers american
performers what what what uh motivated you to do this um well i grew up
listening to a lot of michael
jackson um a lot of boys to men like a lot of like soul music my mom listened
to a lot of that and
like my dad who did you like soul music was well i like like um stevie wonder
boys to men
um and like usher and did you ever did you ever meet any of these people well i'm
signed to usher um
so i met him and i met uh i didn't get to meet stevie yet but i really i got to
meet boys men did
this all happen because your mom put video of you on the yeah we put the put
videos online and then
like they kind of just spread like like rapid fire and then like i got found by
the man my manager
scooter who introduced me to usher and and justin timberlake and then we were
going to sign with
with justin and then we ended up signing with usher tell me uh more about
scooter
that that's really that's what that's what me and my mom were thinking like
this guy named scooter
wants to sign us like how professional could this exactly yeah but turns out he's
got
some some credibility right is he an older guy how old is no he's i mean he's
not old he's not young
but he's like he's like 30 yeah wait he's gonna be mad he's gonna be mad he's
he's 29 he's gonna
be mad if i say 30. 29 is okay 30 is too old to be calling yourself scooter
that's the cutoff come on
scooter but we're done
do we have do we have a clip of a never say never can we take a look we do um
actually a part of the
movie when we were filming it i like i lost my voice and it was like really
hard for me to sing and uh
so i had to go through some struggles so this is a clip can you hear that that's
outside is girls are
still screaming but that's crazy you're not even out there and they're
screaming i know i don't know
what's going on oh my god that's power my friend thank you uh is this a film in
3d uh it is in 3d
okay all right roll it part where he loses his voice what do you think is going
on in terms of
keeping your voice where you should not waste it i guess like i was home for a
few days
so like i was talking like i wasn't screaming hey ryan that's all we do it we
have so much demand on
your voice already 86 shows is a whole lot of stuff to have to do on anybody's
voice we're not talking
about just you you really kind of have to be more cautious when you do have
down time
how long was your voice uh uh off um it was off for like a like a couple days
like my voice was like
really like raspy i'd been like singing have you ever had that more than once
um no just like twice
actually you got to be careful because i mean you're 16 and if this starts
happening more and more
then it could be a problem later so you really got to because i could tell you
weren't really paying
attention to what she said no i i was i was just like really i was like
emotional because my voice was
gone and i had to perform at madison square garden yeah but see that's you
shouldn't they shouldn't have
send you out there did you perform with your voice like that uh yeah oh so you
can't do that but i had
to well i had like all my fans were waiting for me to perform and it's like i i
owe it to them
well i admire yes i admire that
but there's two ways to look at this uh one you could do some permanent damage
to your voice by doing
that and secondly the fans your adoring fans leave saying geez what the hell
was the matter with his
voice yeah you don't want that either no but at the same time you know what the
problem is i'll tell
you what the problem is scooter scooter is the problem justin bieber ladies and
gentlemen that's
never say never opens february 11th nice to see a great job
