uh at this year's little league world series watch this this is very impressive
our next guest uh
pitch pitched two two no-hitters and hit three home runs his efforts led the
long beach california
all-stars to their second consecutive championship ladies and gentlemen please
welcome one of the
heroes 12 year old sean burroughs yeah come on out good to have here sean
congratulations
john burroughs ladies and gentlemen how you doing buddy pretty good is this
your first
time in new york city yep first time are you enjoying yourself very what what
all have you
done since you've been in town uh last night i went to japanese or china
whatever town yeah
and we went to mickey mannell's you know mickey mannell's restaurant that must
have been a thrill
checked it out yeah did they know who you were in there not really but but you're
like a celebrity
a sports star yourself yeah good for you congratulations now it's my impression
uh the
last four or five years that it was always a team from taiwan that was winning
the world series what
happened to those guys uh they they they got uh they they forfeited because
they're about 15 and 16
years and people in high school actually six teams from the far east got um disqualified
and saipan was
the seventh place team and they can't they came to the world series because so
you're saying the guys from
taiwan you said were 50 and 60 years old 15 and 16 15 and 16 how old are you 12.
now now last year you
guys won the world championship because of a forfeit is that what you're
talking about to the philippines
and what was the deal there that just like chinese yeah this year chinese taipei
would have came this
year they're too old now how did you find out these guys were too old last year
uh you can tell i mean
last year the dominican republic we saw him in the bathroom shaving so
and i and i think i think the same kid that pitched for that team also drove
the team bus
so it must have been uh it must have been a pleasure for you guys to win last
year but also kind of
unsatisfying wasn't it that victory but now this year and this is what it
should be it's kids playing
baseball it shouldn't be you know guys who work full time and vote and stuff um
so tell us a little
bit about the experience was were you guys excited was it the thrill of a
lifetime for you yeah our goal
going into that world series was to win on the field because unfortunately last
year we couldn't do
that because you know old people and yeah it just just wasn't fair how how is
the world series different
than your regular season are there different rules for the series yeah we we
have to be in by 10.
uh-huh we have to bring because and during during the season i guess there's
games all day long yeah
and there's game at eight and then there's pin trading going on there just from
pins from different
leagues and we we got to be in after the last is there a bed check uh yeah in
san diego actually
my mom see my mom brought around pins to give to the kids that our da from our
league gave us and
after she gave gave our kids the pins we we really have our clothes on but we
didn't be in bed then
after she gave it to us we'd we'd get out and go meet in the like the lobby and
play ditch them
then we'd go to bed and watch people say butthead you play ditch them what is
that it's like
form team seven and like one people count and other people go around and hide
and then those people try
to find them but you're not out like bar hopping are you no uh and what is it
like having your dad a
very successful former major leaguer as your coach is that a lot of pressure
for you to listen to what
dad says no not really because i mean i'm used to him yeah i've been he's been
my coach for seven
years now including all-stars and minor a's and down so i'm used to him a lot
now you're a successful
pitcher and also a hitter what do you want to do you want to be a pitcher or a
hitter when you get
older i'd rather be a hitter yeah that's where the dough is that's where the
money is buddy look at
that look at that barry bonds that guy's making some cash yeah what about babes
huh
they're around uh let's see i if we have time we're going to go out outside
into the street and
try and bust some car windows okay all right we'll be right back here with sean
burrows okay we're back
you ready sean all right watch out over there
you ready now don't don't hurt me all right don't hurt me
oh what do you all right here you go there there
oh cool awesome there it is oh come on sean here we go come on baby there
here we go there there oh all right one more we have time for one more here we
go get a hold of that
here we go get a hold of that one we gotta go good night everybody thanks john
you
