let's let's talk about
let's talk about your movie for a second all right it's uh the or just dead
poet society just dead
poets depending on what part of the country i see and a dead poet if you're
deep south yeah
and you play a english literature professor in a prep school that kind of thing
teaching our literature and poetry yeah do you have a clip i don't know wait
hold on
it would go something like this i tell you what your movie is playing at a
theater just across the
street should we take everybody down we can we can we can do better than that
through the oh no it's a surprise through the miracle of futaba they're
bringing byron back from
the dead yeah all right let's see it uh hal is the camera down there there you
go it's in the guild
theater oh whoa let's race our way across i don't know what is that 50th there
is that what we're looking
at 50th street and where's the theater it's right next to texas james oh there
it is
let's let's go in and uh can these can these people hear us out of the way out
of the way hey
get in the bus and go home all right can we just go on inside and take a little
uh look at the film
if it's still playing apparently we can't can we just go on in there all right
i should call them then
there we go here we go the lovely lobby i believe that this is the uh end of
the first showing of the
today and if you can describe the action for us okay um this is heading towards
the aisle right now
yeah there's a credit
we screwed it up there's a credit right there this is usually where the part
where the guy turns the
woman behind him like it ain't funny at all i don't know what happened here
there's these are credits
dave and this is the end of it yeah this is the last part of the film well damn
i'm sorry i screwed
this up we thought it would be fun to see a little bit of the film but this is
a very exciting part
this is usually people walking out going well i don't know maybe we can catch
the last showing
of raiders it's okay look and there's the oh this is oh thank you all right
well i'm sorry we uh uh
let's go back into the lobby hal one time and see if we can do anything in
there oh people are filing
out let's ask them let's pull them now what all right just turn turn turn
around if you can do a uh
mr mr mr come here hey hey hey hey excuse me oh no no anybody oh oh pardon me
there's a movie goer
right there hi hi did you see the film sir yeah harrison ford and sean connery
are tremendous oh get out of here
it's excitement it's the road the audience now coming up with their own it
moved me
it made me cry it made me sigh yeah yeah you're gonna get slapped too
uh all right now uh let's hey excuse me sir the man's sneaking out the exit
pardon me yeah too late
you know the guy didn't pay all right let's try one more how do you do man mama
mama don't go mama
mama please get your mama mama please get away from me i know that goyim
oh she's going away i don't like that movie nice to see you guys thank you very
much folks nice to see
everybody well that's it anyway it would have uh it would have been uh it's a
um it's a it's a dramedy
it's a two humped comedy it's a um that's a it's a wonderful piece actually it's
got a it's a wonderful
story everybody who have seen it people are saying great things about it i
think it's and some of the
some of the poets are here if they're out there they out there they're way up
there and you're
also uh ensemble piece i really enjoyed doing it's a great story directed by peter
peter weir now
uh who are you who are you who are you you're uh you're about to have a uh a
baby yes very soon
i'm not but no my wife is that's a figure of speech yeah i mean they say the
man shares in
the birthing experience but unless you're passing a bowling ball i don't think
so
it will be born in new york so um so very shortly you're very shortly yeah it's
always that thing of
the cab driver going not now i'm afraid not we have to take the placenta with
you now come on
oh god it's gonna be incredible lady lady please all right i'll put the meat
wall well let's see
and we've been like uh we'll be here doing a movie for two months so it might
be born here might be
born home so we have to prepare ourselves either way this will be your second
one you have a son that's
six that's what i find hard to believe oh geez i'm sorry well no no i mean it's
like one of those
things like how did you do it no no no it's just like sea monkey dave's but
different no what what
i mean is those swanson frozen sperm dinners but six six years have passed six
years yeah and another
one on the way it will be amazing it's always difficult how you deal with them
how you relate
to them uh my son is now we've been what i find now is we've been playing a lot
of nintendo which is
it's an exciting game really and it's always nice when you realize that's like
kitty cocaine
and after a while you play it backwards you ever played nintendo tape backwards
it goes we won the war
no no no it's a little strange game very addicting stuff hi welcome back to the
program uh robin
williams is here joe jackson and we got a guy dieter sturm he's out there
blowing things up right now
there's stuff flying over it's not a pretty picture but there's cottage cheese
all over the place
oh he's gonna do that have you ever seen cottage cheese explode it's not a
pretty thing no no
it's horrible it's like some sort of diet there's just things everywhere he'll
be out here a little
bit later you could hang around for that if you like i will um you're yes we
were talking this
afternoon and somebody was saying that your mother your mom is in an exercise
video is that true yeah
it is and it's i'm sorry and i'll buy him back now she's in this thing i think
it's called the silver
fox's exercise video how did this come about i don't know i guess she didn't
take the check i gave her
mama please here's all the residuals of mark and mindy please my mother's from
the south so she
just has that attitude come on sonny just whatever please is i'm in there with
sal pacino that's al's
father no so it's it's the the mothers of a lot of uh movie stars in the state
together i don't think
mrs stallone isn't in that but uh a few other mothers i guess it's sal pacino i
don't know i don't
know all of them have you seen it no not yet but oh no this is going to be
another one of those things
where oh no there's your mom going like this mama mama no and that there's freud
going now do you
believe me do you believe what i told you then you smart boy do you uh you get
along pretty well
with your mom oh very well she's wonderful yeah she's um you know it's it's a
very interesting
relationship you know she was the one who kind of gave me my start she used to
have a wonderful poem she
said which was i was a little baby or maybe old enough to remember this but it
was i love you in
blue i love you in red but most of all i love you in blue at that point i'm
like
it's real good mom that should mess me up for a while what is i always hey you
know
she's very interesting now would you say i mean it may not be fair to make this
uh but would you
say she's the person from whom you got your sense of humor or did it come from
other places actually i
sent away for it you got a pretty good deal draw a picture of this chicken and
get a sense of humor
if you can figure out why the two jews walked into the bar then you can be
funny call this number
oh i think she is basically my father had a drier sense of humor which was
basically shut up
that dry was that kind of you know yeah that's bone dry yeah that's a me that
kind of arid dry yeah
i don't know funny yeah and you're you're now uh oh you're in new york working
on a film you
mentioned what is the film it's called cadillac man maybe i mean if they almost
i think it's called that
and if not it's it's something close yeah it's with oprah winbury we can make a
movie with her called
and now i can limbo i don't even know what that means there's one of those
jokes you just watch go
down primer's prairie see you later there's a joke don't come back that would
be funny
it's a movie with tim robbins it's about a car salesman i'm shooting it's weird
to shoot in new
york because all of a sudden uh you're out on the streets locations yeah
locations yeah they're right
there just looking what are you doing here but some guys hi mr williams hi mr
williams i know where you
live yeah thanks lumpy good to see you too lumpy yeah those guys that follow
you hi hi hi hi what
happened what happened what happened i have popeye i run it backwards so it has
a happy ending
god well the guy one time i guess i didn't wave at some guy i was walking down
the street i'm saying
hello hello and some guy waved i didn't acknowledge him he leans out of his car
and goes no wonder you
didn't win the oscar you thanks yeah thank you father bill
it's a whole other thing it's great though i mean shooting here gives it since
it's a new york movie
gives us a whole reality a lot of times they shoot these movies in toronto yeah
and you got this kind
of new york people walking like that righty taking a subway that'd be a good
day did uh i guess the last
time you were here you were uh with steve martin up at the lincoln center yeah
we did godot did you
enjoy that it was it was uh it was an amazing experience it was every night we'd
sometimes had
the uh these people called subscribers who got tickets the whole season one
night the first night
the lights come up there's two old ladies sitting in the front one turns the
other and goes the guy
in the rocks not steve martin and another time in a very dramatic moment there
was a very very it was
like what's the last the last line which is let's go let's go and it's supposed
to be very moving at
one point somebody in the way in the back went a lot of that i woke up so i
woke up a woman who was
sitting in the front was like that lady who tried to talk to at the theater
sometimes people come to
the theater some people sleep some people the beepers beep beep i moved towards
some woman one
night and she went get away get away from me it's theater don't talk to me i
paid not to be talked to
it was fun it was fun and amazing it's a great play did you ever find yourself
having difficulty
staying with the script night after night after night and wanting to just uh
yeah sometimes to riff
it's like in the middle of shakespeare to be or babe where you from talk to me
let's go out
let's do that beckett thing just make it into a musical call it waiting i've
got to wait and wait
some nights you wanted to do that but you couldn't but it's a great place will
you be doing anything
like that again in the near future do you think yes robin williams is hal holbrook
as ethel merman
it's uh now is it is it the or just dead poet society these are things that
marketing guys have
thinking i know don't put the on it that's really hard to read all right so
what do you think it is
some dead poet society all right or those crazy dead poets it it opens it's not
like some sort of
movie like you see guys running around coming out of the grave there's like byron
with a chainsaw
they're back dead poets they're angry they're back they're rhyming
anyway um i think it's i think it's just dead poet society and it opens uh all
over the country
tomorrow i guess tomorrow good to see you again god bless both i hope the film's
a big hit
ladies and gentlemen we'll be right back
