Say hello to our good friend, Mr. Paul Schaefer, ladies and gentlemen.
Thank you very much.
Thank you so very, very much.
Well, Dave, I guess the days of the big bands are finally back.
Now, explain this, Paul.
Introduce all of the members, well, introduce the new members of the band.
All right, everybody's here.
Well, let me introduce one guy first because he's played with us before.
To me, he represents California.
Wadi Wachtel came to play with us this evening.
Big, we're thrilled to have Wadi here.
But Wadi, Wadi came especially to play with this cat.
You know him from the James Gang.
You know him from the Eagles.
You know him from his illustrious solo career.
You know him as pretty much the funkiest cat around.
Mr. Joe Walsh came in to do a little something with us.
The funkiest cat around.
Gentlemen, thank you very much.
Nice to have you here.
I thought I was the funkiest cat around.
Well, you are the funkiest cat around.
Well, that's what I thought.
My next guest is probably the only person we've had on this show who carries a
chainsaw wherever he goes.
He is a great musician and was a member of a group called the Eagles.
This is his latest solo effort right here.
It's called the Confessor.
Please welcome Joe Walsh.
All right, Joe.
Nice to see you.
Have a seat.
That's a lot of fun.
Did you enjoy that?
Don't be nervous.
All right.
I won't be nervous.
But you sound terrific.
And I appreciate you coming.
And I appreciate you bringing Wadi Wachtell with you.
He was here once before, you know.
I didn't know that.
How's the album doing?
Pretty well?
Pretty good.
You moving some of these boys?
Yeah.
All right.
Good for you.
It's called the Confessor.
Let me, I have here, Joe, if you don't mind doing this, I have here something
called media information.
And this is unique in that I understand you wrote all of these items on here.
Can I just stop at any one of these?
Okay.
Ask anything you want.
Here's a little column Joe has called the Places I Have Lived.
Number 11, number 12, I'm sorry, it goes like this.
10 is Boulder, Colorado.
11, Los Angeles, California.
12, in Irving Azoff's car.
Right.
Yeah.
He became my manager for a while.
And then he didn't.
Yeah.
He threw me out of his car, so I fired him.
What kind of car were you living in?
It was a Volkswagen.
Yeah.
Comfortable?
Yeah.
Well, it was a little cramp.
Danny Fogelberg lived there, too, for a while.
We were roommates.
That was tough.
A two-family VW.
Yeah.
You know, the bathroom problem.
It's tough, yeah.
Scheduling is tight.
Let me ask you one more.
This one I find tough to believe.
Things that might be interesting to know about me.
You have them?
No, no.
This is about you, Joe.
This is still your segment here.
Okay.
One time I crashed in a Boeing 727.
Yes, I did.
Really?
Uh-huh.
A commercial flight?
Commercial flight taken out of, uh, taking off out of Denver.
Yeah.
We blew an engine, and I had to circle around, and I blew all the hydraulics,
and we couldn't
get the landing gear down, so we went boom.
And you know what they did?
They gave us complimentary cocktails.
That's what I was going to say.
And tried to put us on another plane.
It's the only concert I ever missed.
Complimentary cocktails.
Swear to God.
That's life.
We're sorry.
We're sorry.
We're sorry that happened.
Nobody got hurt, but, you know, it was not a pretty picture.
No.
Listen, I wish we had time to talk to you about sawing up hotel rooms with your
chainsaw, but
we have to move on.
But I'm very happy you came to play with us.
Have me back.
I'll give you lessons.
All right.
Please do, Joe.
Nice to see you.
We'll be right back with Bob Shortout.
