You know what? I almost forgot. It's time now to draw the lucky number.
Bring it in here. We'll turn on the machine. Thank you very much.
Five.
Three.
Five.
Tonight's lucky number is five, three, five.
Congratulations and keep watching.
It's our good friend, Paul Schaefer, ladies and gentlemen.
Dave.
Hi, you kids.
Thank you.
You know, Dave, I've got to say, Dave, though, this feels live, but it's not
really live.
Sullivan, that was live.
Sullivan was live.
Sullivan was live.
You'd go out there on Sullivan and you'd just, you know, there was no, there
was no turning back.
But this is, you know, this is fun.
This is great, too.
What's happening there?
He's gone too far.
Uh-oh.
Dick Clark, Mr. Bloopers, Mr. Bandstand, Mr. Radio Countdown Show, Mr. Clearasil,
Mr.
What else?
What else?
You can't, uh...
Mr.
It's my fault.
Mr.
Mr.
Oh, yeah, the pyramid.
He's on the pyramid.
He's now making a movie.
Dick Clark will be making a motion picture called, uh, the, the Bandstand Movie.
The film will deal with that historic week back in 1963 when American Bandstand
packed up
and left hometown Philadelphia in favor of California.
Hey!
I've got to say, uh, get those tickets now.
I'll be there, you know, I've got to say.
The Maguire sisters have been added to the Night of 100 Stars.
Now, what I want to know is, do they count as one star or three stars?
You know what else?
They announced the Academy Awards today.
The nominations for Academy Awards for 1985.
And, uh, we have them right here.
We're going to show you actual clips from the movie.
Uh, first of all, in the category of best picture, here we have a scene from
Splash.
In this scene, a romantic boat ride goes awry when Daryl Hannah gets her flipper
caught in a propeller.
Uh, next is the category best original score, Footloose.
And, uh, here we see Kevin Bacon teaching breakdancing to a bunch of guys in
the church basement.
Uh, in the category best picture, uh, Superman 3 was nominated.
Now, this movie tells of an evil genius who trains small dogs to contaminate
the water supply of Metropolis.
All right.
Here we have, uh, in the category best actor, Steve Martin was nominated for
his performance in All of Me.
Steve plays a young lawyer possessed by the spirit of Tina Turner.
All right.
We have next the category of best editing, Greystoke.
Uh, this movie tells the story of Tarzan searching for social acceptance by
working for the phone company.
Uh, maybe not.
Uh, next we have in the category also of best picture, this is places in the
heart.
In this scene, Sally Field encourages the farmhands to work harder by showing
them places in her shorts.
Uh, here we have the category best actress, Meryl Streep, in this film, uh, in
Falling in Love.
Uh, and here is the scene in Grand Central Station when she asks Robert De Niro
what time the super chief pulls in.
Did you get that, Paul?
Well, I, yeah, I did.
Yeah, okay.
My kind of job.
Uh, all right.
Uh, in the category of best supporting actor, Morris Day in Purple Rain.
Now, in this scene, Morris Dex prints for leaving the cap off his mascara.
There you go.
Okay.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
We got that one.
We got that over here.
Yeah, you got that.
Yeah, I think we all got that one.
Jeez, I thought folks would have been in a better mood having drawn the lucky
number and all.
Well, that's probably all disappointed most of them didn't win, I guess.
That's right.
What was that number, anyway?
What was the, uh, Hal, do you know what the, can we show the lucky number again,
please, Hal?
Five, three, five, then.
Is there any way we could see that, Hal?
There you go.
Uh, I'm in a much better mood now.
There we go, now.
Okay.
Okay, back to the Academy Award nominations.
Uh, finally, in the category of best costume design, La Cage a Fall 2.
And I think, I think the less said about this scene, the better.
Well, there you go.
Uh, all right.
We have a very odd, uh, show tonight.
You're going to meet the doorman from the Hawaii Kai, Kiwi Marquette, right
after you take a look at this, folks.
We'll be back.
