how did that gummo
turn out by the way good it was met it was a um really amazing um blockbuster
and uh how much what
was the budget on that i think we talked about it before it's like 1.3 million
dollars something yeah
what kind of dough did it make what did it make back i'm not i'm not really
sure i never i never
asked i think it made um a lot is it still in theaters that's how i got my
answer
it is it still playing yeah it's been playing 18 months um straight straight
now that's interesting
because they had on the one hand you had gummo yeah for 1.3 and then on the
other uh hand on the
other end of the spectrum yeah no no no you had uh had you oh you're titanic oh
yeah have you seen
the titanic 200 million my friend right there 200 million now that's a movie
yeah i know it sank yeah
have you seen the film oh i liked it yeah yeah you enjoyed i mean um i like i i
like what i saw of
it it was good and um it was pretty it was uh i don't really remember i don't
know
do you would you would you i mean it i saw the previews i saw the previews oh
that's good enough
would you would you would you one day like to direct a film on that scale yeah
the second one yeah
the um the one that oh i do the sequel probably the sequel to titanic yeah yeah
and how would that go
i'd use a rowboat
i'm doing i don't know if it sink
tell the folks about your your book uh a crack up at the race riots
this this by the way is why they invented childproof caps
um it's my first novel i want to write are you a novelist you're a filmmaker
what i guess it doesn't
make a difference you're just a creative uh entity i like i just work a lot and
um um i wanted to
write a great american novel or just or a novel i just well i just wanted it to
be american
did uh now here's the here's the book how long did it take you to write this
book
um probably i think over like a two year span two or three years here i turned
to page 59 we got it
clipped off here and all i see on the page 59 is the the word hepburn oh yeah
that was that was going
to be the first page um because i wanted to write the great book with just one
word yeah and uh but it
ended up being a page like 67. how much how much does this thing go for harmony
what are we talking
about um i think it's a regular book price
i don't i don't know i don't like to i never even i don't i can't imagine why
anyone would buy a book
nowadays yeah now would you buy this book would you recommend people go out and
buy it or not
i'd probably read an older book
is this uh are you are you happy with this book or you're not happy oh i'm i
like it i just you
couldn't recommend it though i'm the i'm the author so it's hard i could i just
don't really like to i
wouldn't endorse it or but not not my own book i don't know yeah i wouldn't i'd
rather endorse someone
else's book now uh who published this one um this is double oh double day oh
are they now are they
pleased with the the work yep they love it i mean i think so yeah do you have a
deal to write another
book um i got check so now you've done uh you've done directing and you've done
uh writing novels which
of the two do you prefer um i like i like uh i like writing and directing no i
like i like to do
i like to do both i think they're both nice um just some of the people you i
come into con
contact with i can't stand girlfriend oh some of the people you come in contact
you can't stand
just don't like you just don't they kind of rub you the wrong way huh
yeah yeah because you know you're you're like a mouseketeer who
would have trouble with you huh i don't know yeah i get a lot of i don't know
yeah i can't it's not
good i can get sued no no no huh paul do you have anything for harmony no do
you know ruby wax
