Hiya, Paul. Hiya, folks. Thanks for coming back here. Jonathan Solomon is here
tonight, actor Liam Neeson.
Tomorrow on the program, oh, tomorrow night ought to be another great show.
Martin Short is here very, very, wow, the audience actually, actually gasping.
Tom Jones, legendary singer. Oh, settle down, Teddy.
And here's a very special guy. Have you heard about this man, Robert Rodriguez,
the guy who, the director and producer of El Mariachi, made this motion picture
for $7,000.
Yeah, Columbia buys it, distributes it, and it's making great money and doing
big business. $7,000.
Excuse me, one second, Dave, one second. I happened to see a promo for a new
show the other day on television, and would you like to tell us about it?
You're talking about a show here on NBC? Yes, I saw it. I think you know what I'm
talking about.
Yeah, I know what you're talking about. Would you like to?
Well, let me just tell the audience here. A couple of months ago, the people at
NBC programming, well, Warren Littlefield and the folks came to me, and they
said,
Dave, would you do, would you consider doing a half-an-hour pilot to maybe take
Cheers place?
Because Cheers is going off the air. And I said, you know, I'd love to. Thank
you. Thank you for asking.
And we did. We got some guys together. We had a few, you know, think sessions,
and we put something down on paper,
and then we ended up shooting this pilot, and they're going to air it.
Now, I don't know if it will be the permanent replacement for Cheers, but it
turned out, I think, pretty well.
You want to see it? I'd love to see it.
Hal, do we have that promo for that situation comedy I'm talking about?
We do, yeah.
All right, here we go. Ladies and gentlemen, watch this. This is what Paul,
here, watch and enjoy.
Thursday nights on NBC are about to get a whole lot funnier when Dave Letterman
electrifies your funny bone.
As the wet electrician. He's an electrician.
Okay, try it now.
He's wet.
And he's real dumb.
This is one of them hot bread machines, ain't it?
Also starring Paul Schaefer as the uptight landlord.
That damn wet electrician.
Say goodbye to Cheers and hello to wet electrician.
Right after Wings on NBC's Thursday Night Funny Time.
Keep our fingers crossed.
I hope it does well.
It'd be nice to have two shows, the one at CBS and then this one right here.
Man.
Keep our fingers crossed.
It's so nice.
We'll see you tomorrow night, folks.
Thanks for being here.
Good night, everybody.
We'll see you tomorrow night.
We'll see you tomorrow night.
We'll see you tomorrow night.
We'll see you tomorrow night.
We'll see you tomorrow night.
We'll see you tomorrow night.
We'll see you tomorrow night.
We'll see you tomorrow night.
