You know, speaking of show business, I think that what we know about people now
more than ever is they crave behind-the-scenes inside show business information.
Oh, it's so true.
You know what I'm talking about?
Because many, many times you want a break from your own life, and so if you can
find out about the inner workings of something a little more glamorous, like
show business, you're riveted by it.
And that's what I'm leading up to, that VH1, it's a cable thing, you've got to
have a cable box for it.
They run these, like, behind-the-scenes deals, you know, Chris Christopherson.
Narrating it, I've seen that behind-the-scenes.
Behind the music.
Well, I guess you've seen one, yeah.
Well, I wasn't, I didn't want to say.
Right, well, Paul.
But they did a nice job.
Paul Schaefer is the topic of one of those VH1, what do they call those things?
Behind the music.
Yeah, they did a nice job on it.
All right, here, take a look.
It's our own Paul Schaefer being featured on VH1.
We have it here?
Behind the music, roll it.
By 1994, Paul was on top of the world.
His electrifying new album, Paul for One.
And one for Paul.
An instant hit.
Soaring straight to the top of the billboard charts.
But behind the smile, Paul was a ticking time bomb.
His notorious acceptance speech at the 1994 Grammy Awards signaled the
beginning of the end.
Meaning of a Grammy, I'll tell you, I'll tell you what it means to me.
It means f*** all to me.
You know what, you know what, America, I'll tell you something, America, I got
you, I've been here.
A lot of people don't know this, but Paul was the inspiration for our song,
Jeremy.
Well, Paul and this guy named Jeremy.
Then, things got worse.
In June of 1995, Paul was sued for plagiarism.
I did not plagiarize this song.
I never even heard this song.
But the evidence was hard to ignore.
You know, Paul was a very good friend of mine, so it wasn't easy for me to have
to sue him.
But the simple truth is, I really love getting lots and lots of money.
One of the weeks, Paul was fired from his job and quickly replaced.
Do me a favor, say hello to my good friend and musical director, Eric Estrada.
It's funny, because I've known Eric Estrada a long time.
We first met when I did Chips, and I was a Mexican biker on the info bus.
Well, after I lost my job at the late show, I got angry.
Former late show band leader, Paul Schaefer, caused a disturbance this morning.
A News 2 camera caught the action in midtown.
Watch the news.
Go to bed.
You know what I mean?
That was when I knew I needed help.
After a year-long stint at the Ken Rogers' spiritual healing and the own
therapy coming down,
Paul knew he was ready to make his comeback.
The whole plagiarism thing is far behind me now.
I'm back in the studio, making music again, doing what I love to do, what I do
best, really.
In fact, I just finished my new single.
I want you to hear a little bit of it.
I think you'll be impressed.
Check this out.
I said, hey, babe, take a walk on the kooky satire.
I said, hey, sergeant, take a walk on the kooky satire.
I said, hey, sergeant, take a walk on the kooky satire.
I said, hey, sergeant, take a walk on the kooky satire.

If you're okay now, fine now with Kenny helping.
