Now, here's something. If you have a computer and you dial up the internet, how
many folks have computers and dial up the internet?
How many of you folks love the internet more than life itself?
There's a thing going on on the internet. Apparently, if you have these, what
they're called, Mentos.
You ever had one of these Mentos? They're these little deals right here.
And you take one of these little things like that and you put it in a jug of
this soda.
And it has to be diet soda and the whole thing explodes and goes crazy.
Well, here tonight on the program, we have the guys who do this out on 53rd
Street.
They have 122 bottles of Diet Coke.
And they will all be loaded with the Mentos and there will be an explosion and
a raining fountain shower of diet, sticky, icky Diet Coke.
The likes of this you've never seen before.
What are you just, do you just drop one of these in here and then do you reseal
it?
You just drop it in and it goes?
Yep.
So if I drop this in, what should I do?
I should, okay.
Wait for the fun.
All right, I'm going to put this somewhere else.
How about right down here by the audience?
How about that?
Make the thing?
Whoa.
Oh, crap.
Is that it?
That was nothing.
Wow.
Now, just imagine 122 of those.
Well, that was nothing.
Why was that nothing?
I thought it would be better.
Maybe you have to put more tablets in there.
All right, I'll try some more.
All right.
Or is it already?
We need a new bottle.
Oh, boy.
You folks are going home sticky.
Well, let's throw the thing out there on 53rd Street.
Look at all those things.
We have Fritz Agroba and Stephen Waltz.
They're going to be detonating 122 jugs of diet soda.
All right.
Let me try one more.
I'm going to...
Ooh.
This time, I'm going to use two.
I'm going to use two.
I'm going crazy.
We're going to try it with two.
You want in on this, Paul?
How do I go?
It'll be fine.
It'll be fine.
It'll be fine.
It's nothing.
Oh, my gosh.
I tell you, I haven't heard people shrieking like that since my honeymoon.
It's diet soda.
Run for your lives.
I think opening it up again and then walking loses fizz.
I'm sorry, what?
I'm being told that I'm losing fizz by carrying it?
Right.
Carrying it open.
Okay.
So what would you suggest?
Opening it there.
Opening it out there.
And how many of the Mentos do you recommend here?
Now three.
Now three.
I'm being told three.
All right.
Okay.
All right.
So here's...
This is a mistake I made.
I opened it.
I opened it prematurely.
Oh boy.
Can you people hear yourselves?
It's the silliest thing I've ever heard.
No, but wait till you see it.
Whoa!
Wait till you see it when it's choreographed.
Yeah.
And I believe this evening it's being choreographed by Rebecca Romijn Stamos.
That's how you...
I don't want to steal their thunder.
I don't want to say anything, but we've now tried it three different ways.
And each time it's just like an old man taking a leak.
Well, I mean...
But the pros outside do it.
Yeah, they know what they're doing.
See, that's the thing.
I don't know what I'm doing.
I mean, it's too complicated.
Choreographed...
It's a liter of soda and some Mentos and stuff.
Yeah, no, the choreographed dancing...
But the point is, ladies and gentlemen, if you drink the soda and take a Mento,
clearly you will explode.
You will explode.
Clearly you will explode.
You will be killed.
That is the...
That's the point.
So don't try this at home.
No, don't try it.
No, go to a neighbor's house.
It's time now for the soda explosion on 53rd Street.
We have 122 two-liter bottles of Diet Coke, 646 Mentos mint candies.
The gentleman you see there in their lab coats, Fritz Groba, he's a
professional juggler from Maine.
Stephen Valtz, he is a lawyer from Maine.
They got together, as I understand it.
Stephen was representing Fritz in some sort of juggler suit.
Some litigation, some problem with an Indian club.
I see.
Uh-oh.
Indian casino?
That's how they got together.
And any...
By the way, this has been seen over 4 million times on the Internet already.
Oh, well, what...
Exactly.
Well, that's exactly the point.
What are we doing?
I don't know.
We might as well sign off and go home.
All right, gentlemen, any time you're ready.
And I just want to say one thing.
If it's anything like what we saw in the theater here earlier, you folks are in
for something memorable.
All right, boys, any time.
Take it away.
All right, boys.
All right, boys.
All right, boys.
All right, boys.
Thank you very much.
Very impressive.
How about that?
122 two-liter bottles.
Seems like you might be able to do something similar with a garden hose, but I
don't...
I'm not sure of that.
I'm not sure of that.
Don't tell Rebecca Romain Stamos that.
All right.
Well, this is exactly what I was worried about happening.
By the way, the difference between our little experiment here and the
experiment out there,
nozzling.
See that?
They were nozzling.
They were nozzling, yeah.
Thus increasing the pressure.
I was fearful of this.
I was fearful of this.
I was fearful of this.
Dear Dave, I just got an email.
I just tried the Diet Coke and Mentos experiment and blew out my picture window.
Thanks a lot, mule nuts.
Vicki Jennings, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
I'm pretty sure that's going to be a lawsuit.
