- Hi, I'm Barbara Gaines.
This is the Barbara Gaines Show.
Mary Barkley, Dave Letterman.
- Hey, how's it going, Gophers?
- I don't have a lot of time.
I have to take Sonu to Wicked.
- Listen. - Coming to you from a new location.
- Listen, how about, congratulations.
Just what I was gonna say on the new set.
The network must be very, they're giving you a new set, Gaines.
- Yeah, I love it.
- That's fantastic.
And how about Mary's new hair?
- I like that too. - It's a whole new beginning here.
- Yeah, it's lovely. - I didn't recognize me.
- I got plenty to say today.
First of all, let me just remind you,
a lot of people got their nose out of joint.
Things happen, okay?
- Yes, just that's enough.
- You get too near a couple of goons with a bone saw,
things might happen.
It's just, don't, let's not panic.
Things happen, you know, you get that.
By the way, a shout out here now to our friend, Seth Meyers.
- Oh, yeah.
- Yeah, Seth Meyers, he was, oh, I know what it was.
The president of the United States
now wants to fire Seth Meyers.
- Oh. - Yeah.
And I thought, this is just delightful.
How do you think that's gonna go?
So anyway, I've never been more proud of Seth Meyers.
That's our old show, as a matter of fact.
- Yes.
- Yeah, we used to do that show.
- We did.
- And he does a magical job.
But just remember, Seth, things happen.
- Yeah. - You know what I'm saying?
- He got two good tweets from Trumpy, Seth Meyers.
- Oh, he did? - It had the double, yeah.
- Well, what was the second one?
- I think it was kind of like- - Shut up.
I think he's funny and ratings challenged
and he should be fired.
- Oh. - Oh, yeah.
- Yeah, here we go. - That's the president.
- Yeah.
Amazing.
- And we had a lot of fun with that one.
- Yeah.
- And oh, also, Mary and I went to California.
- Yeah. - Oh, that was so wonderful.
- For the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.
- It was great. - Oh, it was nice.
- If you haven't seen it, look it up.
- He was, Warren Zevon was on the, he wasn't on the,
I was on the show and it was a great fun
and you get to be around Rock 'n' Rollers.
- Yeah.
- No, and I'm serious that the induction speech you gave,
I thought was wonderful. - Thank you very much.
But the best part of it is I got to meet
the manager of Bad Company.
And the manager, lifelong manager of Bad Company
gave me a guitar pick.
- Yeah, that's right. - That's nice.
- There were a lot of cool people
wandering around backstage- - Oh, yeah, yeah.
A lot of cool people, yeah.
- Just randomly walking by, we saw Cyndi Lauper.
- Cyndi Lauper.
- Yeah, like she always was just,
and we heard her sing a couple of songs.
I went on after Fruity Pebbles.
What am I thinking of?
- Salt-N-Pepa.
- Salt-N-Pepa.
And that was tremendous energy.
That was really, really good.
- It was great, they were great.
Yeah, and that's a catchy song.
You can say what you, you know.
- Yeah. - Absolutely.
- You can't touch this?
- No, no, it was Push It.
Yeah, it wasn't medley, it was Push It,
it was the other one, what was it?
And one of the great things about being there,
all of those people over the years in that building
had been on our show.
And so they would very nicely come up
and we would reminisce and it was great fun to see these folks.
- Yeah, that's lovely.
Now, hey, how about your, I understand you did a show with Jim Downey.
Oh, you weren't, were you here?
- Yes.
- Were you here, Mary?
- I was over there.
- No. - Oh, you were over there.
- But I didn't make much of an impression.
- But the internet has gone wild for Jim Downey.
- Yes, everyone loves Downey.
- Downey fever.
- Downey fever.
- Yeah, so that's great.
So is it a two-parter?
- Yes, there's gonna be, there's gonna be a second part.
And Jim said he's gonna subscribe now.
- Oh good, you need all the subscribers you can get, eh?
- Yeah. - Yeah.
- So that's great, and it was because of that,
the network said, how about that, we'll give you a new set.
- Because of Jim.
Oh, I thought it was because of the Professor Rock.
- Look at all the space we have now.
- Oh, and the Professor Rock, that show did well.
- That show did Blockbuster.
- Oh, you're on fire, you are on fire.
- I know, Walter and I are talking about
maybe having a mentalist on.
- Oh, there's a guy.
Have you seen the guy?
- Oz.
- Oz, oh my God.
- That's who we wanna have on.
- Brian Tedda texted me yesterday and said,
Dave would love this guy.
- That's who we wanna have on.
- I've seen him two or three times.
- I will tell you that it's,
and this is what I always say about these guys.
Whatever you're seeing, you've been tricked.
It's not happening.
- What?
- The impression that he creates is authentic,
but it's not happening.
- Well, that's why we have to have him on,
don't you think?
- Well, sure, but it's great fun to watch.
And I know this because when I was a kid in Indianapolis
and I had a radio show on 1690, wow.
We had to buy a dial extender to get us.
1690, WNTS, news, talk, sports.
- Ooh.
- And I was the talk, I was in the middle.
I was not the Anne, I was the talk, not the sports.
And we had Kreskin on, magician Kreskin.
- Oh, yeah, sure.
- Mentalist Kreskin.
And I said to Kreskin, I said, what, are you really?
And he said, what I am doing could be done by any magician
working today?
And that's when I realized, uh-uh.
- That it's a trick, but it's a mentalist trick.
- Mentalist tricks, which would include Confederates
and DNAs.
Is it DNAs?
- NDAs.
- NDAs.
- But if we had him here, there would be no Confederates,
or just us.
- Well, let's get him in here, find out.
- Yeah, we'll get him in here.
- But I will say, even though I know exactly what he's up to,
it couldn't be more entertaining.
Have you talked to him?
- No, not yet, but we'll try.
- Remember when we struggled and everybody was resentful
of coming on the show and stuff?
- I'd still bet.
- Yeah.
- And now people can't wait to get on the show.
- Well, I wouldn't say that.
Shut up, Peggy.
- Oh, how about that?
Oh, my God, that was so good.
Oh, man, just a wonder of idiocy.
It's just fantastic.
It knows no bounds.
- None.
- No, and never ending.
He's our current, he's our dictator.
- Yeah.
- He's not going anywhere.
- No, and it just laughs a minute.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I heard some, he was standing in front of a giant gold eagle
for something recently.
- Oh, I missed that.
- Yeah.
No, he ain't going anywhere.
- There's a lot of gold in that office now, I think.
- I know, and I'm sure it's not real gold,
because that's not as shiny.
- Yeah, probably not.
But it doesn't make any difference.
The appearance is fraudulent, as is everything about the regime.
- Exactly.
The regime is right.
- Yeah.
- Well, on that note, I have to go.
- Things happen, just remember.
Hey, piggy, things happen.
- Things happen.
- Good God.
- Don't forget to subscribe and love us.
- It's like 18 times the worst behavior one has witnessed ever anywhere.
- Yeah, and everyone seems fine with it.
- Think of the worst thing that you've ever seen humans accomplish.
This is so much worse.
- All the time.
- Oh, it's delightful.
- All right, goodbye.
- We got to go?
- I have to go.
- All right, thank you.
- Goodbye.
- You should get up and go.
- Yeah, exactly.
I have to go push the thing.
- Push the kitty and squeeze the cow.
- Goodbye.
- Bye, Barbara.
- Goodbye, there she goes.
Hey, wait a minute.
Was it something we said?
