welcome to the uh show pleasure to have you with us and pleasure to meet you
and congratulations
number number one film in the country yep yep yep it's good pretty good deal it's
good
yeah you're a kid right you're like 25 or something 26. well tell me tell me
about
yourself you you're a stand-up comedian yeah where were you from first from atlanta
georgia
atlanta georgia started off in atlanta you know i'm youngest of six kids and we
just uh you know
i had a crazy family went to high school most humorous and all that stuff so
you know just
started from a long time ago so you knew right away you want to be a performer
you wanted to be
a stand-up comedy yeah definitely i used to love going to the movies just being
in the theater and
watching i used to stay up late watching tv watching your show watching
entertainers come on and stuff i
had like a had a dream and you know it seemed like it's coming true so going
well pretty well for you
but now so so atlanta uh it's the same for anybody regardless of where they are
what do you do when
you're in atlanta or muncie or phoenix what do you do to get that dream into
some kind of
pursuit what do you do you have to if you know you have to just like out of
high school when i was
in high school i host talent shows you know i used to get in trouble in class
and the principal
and the teachers decided for me to go you know hosting talent shows since i
wanted to clown around
so much and i started hosting talent shows got it did jokes and it was funny so
and then right
then and there i said this is what i'm gonna do the rest of my life forget
about college all that
stuff but you know forget about college i mean i recommend kids go to college
go to because
every you know my little nephews might be watching this uncle said don't go to
college that's what he
said but uh if anybody's interested in getting entertainment business go to
your i mean i tried
to find the the closest comedy club i could find i went to the comedy club but
you know i had to work
to get in there because i was underage and the manager was like no man you can't
come in here man
you're under age i ain't losing my liquor license for nobody so it was all that
thing but i snuck in
perform got a standing ovation really yeah he said you can come back but just
don't drink you can come
back sure now what about the first time you you told your parents that you were
working i mean how
did they take that i mean as a professional gig how did they feel about that my
parents my mom's really
didn't she didn't know what i was saying i said mom i'm gonna be a comedian she
said all right well do
something do something but my brothers i invited them down to the club and from
you know being from
georgia and like you said they you know being a comedian like what they was all
laughing at me like
all right i'm gonna come down and see you perform and i went i invited them
down to the comedy club
and they was down there and i was on the list but you know being a comedian you
might you might not
get to go up that's not guaranteed so i didn't get to go up that night so i had
to ride all the
way home and they was in the car i thought you was a comedian you know you didn't
go up and all
this stuff and i said okay one day i'm gonna go up y'all gonna see so now they
ask me for money
every day and i said i thought you was gonna pay me back when you're gonna pay
me back
and now this uh movie the jackie chandale how was it like working on jackie chand
it was it was good
i tell everybody it's like a dream come true because jackie is like he does
stuff nobody in the world
does he do it i mean jackie done broke every bone in his body that's right jackie's
crazy he's really
crazy he got a nail sticking out his head jackie's just crazy and sometimes
when i wasn't filming i
just sit down there and watch him you know perform and stuff because it was
like it was incredible but
it was funny and you know he does know english but you know first time we met
he played a joke on
everybody he played a joke on me because i was sitting up there we had no
manager's age and everything
around and i was like talking to him saying jackie we're gonna have so much fun
this is what i'm gonna
do in the movie and all this and he wouldn't say that all he would do is smile
like
and i was looking to you know to my agent i was like he don't even know english
how i'm gonna do
the movie with him i'm gonna have an interpreter on the set so then after wow
he started speaking
and started doing flips and everything i said oh now you speak english so we
incorporated that in
the movie so we had a lot of improv now jackie the deal on jackie is he uh does
all his own stunts
he was jackie be lying jackie don't do all his own stunts i had to do jackie
stunts for him jackie
started crying like five or six times jackie can does not do his own stunts but
i'm not gonna tell
everybody this i mean what it makes me a bigger man because i do his stunts he
was actually weeping
he was actually sobbing he started crying oh man he started crying a couple of
times i mean a couple
of things you're gonna see i got a prosthetic mask on and i'm the one sliding
down the thing and all
this crazy stuff that's me he seemed a little taller sometimes it's me
uh uh how what did you do for the summer did you get any time off or were you
still you weren't the
movies been finished for a while i went to italy man i went to italy great over
there yeah gotta go
to italy it was fun i went to the uh can't take a bad picture can't get a bad
meal in italy that's
right you get plenty of wine all that stuff i don't drink though but plenty all
that stuff pizza and
everything but i lost my bag pizza pizza really yeah man okay man why you gonna
do me last day
but uh i lost my bag over there your luggage right i lost you know i was trying
to you know
i was trying to sneak clothes back into america and left some clothes i went to
a luggage shop to
buy some more luggage to put some clothes in it and i took off my backpack and
left that one in it you
know it mixed up in the room with the rest of the bags so i tried to call back
to italy don't
ever leave nothing in italy because they treat you like you know when people
don't know english
in america they treat you like that like what did you say no no come back
tomorrow tomorrow
so it was it was real bad i still don't have my bag though and i ain't going
back over there to get it
ten thousand dollars to go get my bag so it's ridiculous what i'm gonna do uh
where were you in
italy what towns i went to florence i went to rome i went to the coliseum i got
coliseum is scary when
you go inside the coliseum it's like a whole nother world inside of there yeah
yeah it was like uh it's
crazy you can get lost in there i got lost in one of the caves and stuff so it
was kind of crazy but
uh then i went to uh you know i went to florence sienna and a couple of places
it was cool good glad you
enjoyed yourself you want to uh you want to show the folks a little clip here
of the film yeah let's
let's show help jackie make a little more money oh yeah you know what the scene
is here we're
going to take a look at i think it's a scene when because my character is a
character who's bold he
always goes into situations don't care and he's like uh kind of a gutsy type of
character he's in
this restaurant a japanese restaurant and with the bad guys he's surrounded all
by him and he's talking
trying to talk his way out of it so that's some kind of karate fight is that
what we got here oh yeah
hot diggity here we go chris tucker rush hour take a look that's pretty silly
pretty funny stuff
okay well congratulations pleasure meeting you and congratulations on the
success of the big film thank you please come back thank you very much
you
