it was like thanksgiving at mom's
you know you know i just uh i don't want to be get silly about this i just
think you're
absolutely the best i go to these movies you know the motion pictures and uh
you're unbelievable it
doesn't make any difference what the film is i and and i've told this to people
i've seen that movie
tender mercies uh half a dozen times and each time i watch it i look at you in
that that film it is
seamless you don't for a second not believe that you're the old down and out
country western singer
songwriter it's just an amazing piece of work thank you sir i appreciate it
now are you really gonna get shaved tonight well we don't know now have you you've
had richard harris
on the show haven't you yes he was on the old show yeah when you bring him on i
wish you would
ask him about a particular ritual he has when he does a certain type of shaving
uh-huh now will you
please okay well sure i'll tell him to bring his little black bag and make a
make a note of that
uh let's talk about you mentioned richard harris yeah uh you've worked with
with everybody uh tender
mercies uh it was ellen barkin right yeah pick pick out somebody you've worked
with and tell us a
little about the experience marlon brando what was that like gene hackman yeah
hackman it's great you
know i hadn't seen gene in what many many years five or six times in 25 years
but it's like we picked
up where we left off you guys started out together your room together or
something go you know bump
around the streets together look for jobs dollar an hour jobs and uh he's just
a great guy great actor
and it's like we picked up yeah we left off exactly and you worked with him
again in the geronimo yeah
it must have been great fun it was a lot of fun yeah uh marlon brando you
started to do a little
impersonation there of marlon what was that like well we had some good times
you know on the godfather
yeah we had actually had a mooning contest a mooning a mooning contest somebody
presented us with a
world championship mooning belt now was that in godfather 2 or godfather 1.
one now explain for us the competition what was the nature of that well we were
on staten island and
uh we both went for our pants our belt and copeland said no no the children
here and you know i i
so we we kept we went through with it and we dropped our drawers and mooned
everybody and some woman said
mr devall i'll love you behind but all the balls on brantle
you asked me
i should have known i should have known when you started flipping the bird
backstage
uh but you're that kind of guy i heard oh sure i'm that kind of guy anything
goes with me you know
that um are you still tangoing yeah a little bit when did that come to your
life it's not a joke is
it you actually go out and tango i've written a script on it we've developed i
got my own development
deal in california we have our own company and uh i've written a script and uh
my wife and i are going
to buenos aires for uh new year's eve we've been nine times and uh it's a kind
of a hobby of mine
but what is it that draws you to that particular dance it's hard to explain it's
just the kind
of a serenity you get when you do it counterclockwise with a group of people in
buenos aires
in particular yeah you know it's a very nice nice thing yeah you ever drop your
pants there robert
of course not yeah but uh it's it's uh kind of a quest of mine this uh this geronimo
