Welcome back.
Norm MacDonald fell in love with that chair so much.
We said he could sit in it longer.
That was the best chair.
It's a Natuzi.
It's a Natuzi.
He was wondering where he could purchase one.
Talk to our boss.
I will.
Try to get it online, some pleasure.
Well, welcome to Phoenix.
How long have you been in town?
I got in yesterday and I burned myself all over.
We said, what were you doing?
I know, it's hotter than a $2 pistol in this town.
So you're a little peeling a little bit on the nose.
So you don't come here often in the summer, is that what you're saying?
No.
Yeah, it's a good plan not to come in the summer.
It's nice every other year.
People leave in the summer, right?
Yes.
They scurry out.
Spend a lot of time in Southern California, San Diego.
Well, you're in town, you're performing, and you're doing stand-up, which you're
famous for.
At Stand-Up Live, which I saw yesterday, which is an awesome club.
I've never seen such a beautiful club.
It is.
And we've had a lot of great comedians come through since they opened up.
Oh, awesome.
So what's your stand-up show like?
If we haven't had the great pleasure of seeing you live.
It's just me yapping.
Well, that's good enough.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, I don't really have any subjects.
It's just whatever's going on.
Do you play off the audience, the crowd?
Yeah, yeah, whatever they want.
If they want to talk, it's cool with me.
It kind of eases the load a little bit.
Yeah, it's less for me to do.
Sometimes they'll entertain each other.
Do you talk about your childhood a lot?
Because I was reading about you the other day.
When you were in high school, your father was your homeroom teacher?
Oh, yeah.
Probably in grade school, yeah.
How'd that work out?
Was he mean and strict?
He was a tough guy, yeah, yeah.
He was tough.
He was tough.
He was odd.
He didn't graduate from school himself.
Because he was old when he had me.
He was like 50, so he was in World War II.
Yeah.
And so, you know, he grew up in the Depression.
And then he went to World War II, and then he came back, and they said,
Oh, we have this special thing.
He'd be a teacher, you know?
He only had, like, a grade 9 education.
And they let him be a teacher?
Well, he was teaching grade 5, so he was highly overstocked.
This was in Quebec, right?
Yeah, yeah, Quebec.
Quebec City.
Wow.
Yeah, French.
But my dad would not let me learn French.
But 99% French, and I didn't know how to speak French.
Really?
And my dad refused to let me learn.
So you never learned.
I took Latin instead.
You could either take French or Latin, and every English kid took Latin,
because the English did not like the French.
Yeah.
So I'm sure Latin came in handy throughout the years.
Yeah.
Once in a while in Quebec City, you'd meet an ancient Roman.
That's not often.
Yeah.
Do you have people, like, that meet you on the street or come up and want you
to do impressions
that they've seen you do over the years?
Yeah, they do.
Yeah, like on Saturday Night Live, I don't do impressions, but on Saturday
Night Live,
I did, like, a few impressions.
And so, but the thing is, on Saturday Night Live, they put an entire mask on
you.
Yeah, and that adds to it.
Yeah, that helps a lot when you look exactly like the person.
And then I did this Burt Reynolds character once where I was on, I wrote this
sketch called
Celebrity Jeopardy so I could do Burt Reynolds.
And I wrote, one time I wrote Turd Ferguson as my name.
I said, you've got to call me that.
So some people know that.
So one time I was walking down the street, and the guy's like, Turd!
And I'm like, thank you.
Did you turn?
Yeah, I'm like, hello.
And everybody's like, what?
You don't hear that exchange, huh?
No, not often at all.
Turd, thank you.
We're big baseball fans around here with our Arizona Diamondbacks.
Bob Uecker's been on our show once or twice.
Now, is he, like, one of the funniest play-by-play guys that you've ever met?
He's the funniest guy I've ever met, period.
Yeah, he's unbelievable.
As a matter of fact, here in Arizona, I always go to spring training when he's
here, you know,
and he called the games.
I don't know if he does any more with his health, but, oh, my God, he was so
funny.
And one time, I remember everybody loves Uecker, you know?
So he's in the booth there, and people are handing them balls to sign, you know?
And so he gets the ball, he signs it, and then he goes, here, sign it!
And I go, no, they don't want my...
He goes, sign it!
So I sign my name, and the kid's like, what?
What's this guy?
Why do I want this?
Yeah, the ball was made more valuable, then, and now I make it less valuable.
Oh, boy.
All right.
Well, you're performing tonight?
Tonight, tomorrow.
And tomorrow night?
Yeah, two shows each.
Okay, cool.
Stand up live.
It's at Cityscape.
What do you think of that city?
You know, it's cool.
It's amazing, yeah.
It's so cool.
It's like a bowl after you're done with your show, don't you?
I know, Lucky Strike.
Yeah.
I don't want to start plugging things, but Lucky Strike, natural, whatever this
is, natural
lies, I've already forgot it, see?
Because I didn't put it in my...
You're trusting your phone.
...in my Blackberry.
I shouldn't be getting money for all this.
I know.
When Norm is performing tonight at Stand Up Live, it'll be air conditioned.
Yes.
We'll throw that in for you.
And next time, SPF 50.
Oh, SPA, you're really, really put it up, huh?
Yeah, yeah, lather that stuff on.
The thicker, the better.
You know, Norm, thank you so much for coming up.
Oh, thank you, man.
This was really fun.
It was nice to meet you.
It's me, Andrea.
Thank you, sweetheart.
This is the time...
I shouldn't say sweetheart.
You can say whatever you want.
Don't you worry.
I don't get a usually offended.
I was leading you there, because this is the time when we go into birthdays.
Yeah.
So say happy birthday to Andrea.
Oh, it's my birthday.
Oh, happy birthday, Andrea.
Thank you, sir.
I appreciate that.
Hey, this is...
Oh, we're gone.
Yeah.
Oh, no, you can still talk about it.
I was going to say that, interestingly, yesterday was Nelson Mandela's birthday,
and also Machine
Gun Kelly.
Wow.
So I thought, when I heard that, I thought, so much for astrology.
You're absolutely right.
You know, something that we normally don't do on this show is we have some live
guests here
to celebrate Andrea's birthday.
Yay!
Take a shot right now.
It's Andrea's family.
Hey, mama.
Oh, I made it act, too.
Hi, mother.
Oh, my gosh.
Look at Carter James as well.
This is my son and my husband.
He is the cutest lover.
Can I give pussy mama?
Pussy mama.
Oh, he's like it being on TV here, Andrea.
Say hi.
Say hi.
Say hi.
Your daddy dressed you very cute today.
Here.
Oh, yeah.
Say hi.
Say hi, Mondo.
Oh, what a birthday surprise, you two.
Say happy birthday, mom.
Can you say happy birthday, mama?
He only says, oh, you don't want to go to dad yet?
Oh, he's got balloons on him.
Watch the steps.
Watch the steps.
All right.
Oh, that was so sweet.
There you go.
He appears like his father.
He's much better than you.
Thank you, buddy.
Oh, there he is.
Happy birthday, everybody.
Happy birthday.
Say hi to Norm.
Say hi to Norm.
He's famous.
Hi.
Say hi, Norm.
Whoa.
Oh, yeah, he likes his dad more than his mom.
What a sweetheart.
Oh, my goodness.
How old is he?
What a surprise.
He just turned one a couple weeks ago.
He's only one?
He's only one.
Oh, he's big.
Yeah, he's walking already, boy.
I like how you two matched today.
This is cute.
He's got such cool.
