Jeff Platt here for PokerNews.com. We're at the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure.
Oh, I've seen you. I've seen you. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We might have talked in the summer at the World Series of Poker.
Yeah, yeah, that's where we talked.
This is Norm MacDonald, by the way. I'm doing good, thanks. We're here at the
Poker Stars Players Championship.
In the Bahamas.
In the Bahamas, at the Atlanta. So, let's get the bad news out of the way.
Yeah.
They got you in this tournament. Is that correct?
What does that mean?
That you're eliminated. That you have no more chips. That you're a busto.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm eliminated.
Well, that's okay. There are plenty more tournaments to play.
And we also have Comedy Night at the Atlantis Theatre.
How excited are you to be performing in front of a group of poker players?
Well, I was supposed to do it on, yeah, I'm doing it the day after tomorrow.
Yeah.
And I had two sets ready. One was where I was talking about, you know, winning
$5 million and what that means to you.
Yeah.
And now I have to scrap all that because I didn't win the $5 million.
Right.
Most of my act was based on me winning $5 million.
Okay.
I'm guessing you have more material.
I have to kind of change my material into just being in the Bahamas with no
money in a casino.
Okay, that'll work too.
You've become pretty good friends with Clayton Fletcher with Joe Stapleton, is
that right?
Yeah, yeah.
Joe's awesome.
I don't know Clayton that well, but I watched him during the World Series and I
know him as a comedian.
But, oh yeah, they're doing the comedy show with me.
Exactly.
Exactly.
And Ben Ludlow, another poker player slash comedian, I think.
I'm a poker player slash comedian because poker players and comedians are both
like lazy people that just like to hang out in smoky places at nighttime.
So it just kind of works?
Yeah.
It works well together.
I'm a singer-songwriter.
You watch a decent amount of poker?
Yeah, I watch poker all the time.
Because I just like watching things on my phone.
I used to phone people on my phone, but now I watch poker.
Now you just watch poker?
Yeah.
Well, we've seen you on Poker After Dark a couple times.
Oh, that's great.
How did you enjoy that experience?
I was on it twice.
One night I won a lot and then one night I lost a lot.
And then the one I won a lot, it seemed way more fun.
I wonder why.
Have you been able to determine that?
I don't know.
It could have been I was wearing my lucky shirt.
That's exactly what it was.
It was definitely the lucky shirt.
Finally, Norm, how would you sum up the vibe at the table when you come and sit
down?
I'm sure, you know, everybody's pleased to chat with you.
Do you try to lighten things up at a poker table?
You know, it can be so serious.
Like these 25K poker tournaments and everybody's just stuck on their phone.
Right.
But do you feel when you get there maybe the guys and the women open up a
little bit?
Yeah, I try to get them to not take so long making decisions.
Yeah, yeah.
People take a long time.
Like they look at their first two cards, right, and no one's bet.
And then 20 minutes pass, you know.
I read a newspaper and then the guy folds.
So I try to keep things moving.
Yeah, that happens.
Well, thanks for the time.
We'll see you at the comedy show, all right?
Are you coming?
Yeah.
Yeah, we'll definitely.
We'll see you at the comedy show, all right?
It's going to be okay.
It's going to be okay.
He's Norm MacDonald.
I'm Jeff Platt for PokerNews.com.
Thanks, Jeff.
