triple crown anthony's new
fans and an armless man accused of stabbing all coming up on episode 172 of the
jeselnick and
rosenthal vanity project jrvp jr vice president baby bottle full of lean bitch
i'm maggie simpson hold
down the town like a poo from the simpsons new york cheese bus like otto from
the simpsons the simpsons
youtube listeners can awkwardly uh see me pumping my fist you know that's a bad
off beat what was
that that's a banger that's a song called the simpsons from the new year old
droog album that's
a hemes verse hemes comes in comes in and i've been like listening to that on
repeat all week i just
love that verse where he just references different simpsons over and over again
and i've been i've been
practicing have you ever thought how little you'd have to talk about on this
show if it wasn't for
year old droog imagine if i wasn't friends with you how streamlined the show
would be i like having uh
rap lyrics that i understand i don't want to be like like saying something that
i don't really know
what half the words mean which is most rap lyrics so when i hear something that
i'm like excited about
and put on repeat that that goes in the intro every time i like hemes i kind of
like
lyrics that you don't understand like that's how i was introduced to rap on
some level i mean obviously you
have to not understand some lyrics when you get into it but when you like
totally understand
every word you're like oh cool okay because sometimes you like you're saying it's
like
rotty rich like what what is the box i don't know but i'm intrigued by it i don't
see i don't know
anything you just said uh actually it's not even true though i like many um
white people i was
introduced to hip-hop at least white people of my age by like a sort of hip-hop
that you did could
understand everything that was going on like the far side and tribe called
quest kind of backpack
rap where it was all very clear so yeah sometimes i don't know what they're
saying and sometimes i
just don't understand the reference it's like oh i've been talking about drugs
all day long i didn't
know that uh you're usually pretty with it you know i'm okay i do all right i
mean i feel like you
figure things out yeah but if your whole verse is just about different members
of the simpsons then i'm
in like i got it what's uh what's happening in jessel next world we don't
really talk anymore
now except for this podcast i guess you say that every week we definitely i do
well yeah if you're
new to the podcast the jessel nick and rosenthal vanity project jrvp junior
vice president you know
i still hear that chair sorry i still hear that chair we told you last time fix
your chair and you
you said okay in a way that i knew that was not going to happen yeah get the wd-40
i do like the new
um way you're you're saying junior vice president i like the pause i see the he's
trying to improve
aaron um and we're trying to improve this podcast that's why i was trying to
set up for new listeners
this is the podcast um where lifelong friends 24 years old now anthony jessel
nick a famous stand-up
comedian uh and myself greg rosenthal you might not know me i work for nfl
network i'm a professional
football analyst um it's where we monetize our friendship and we've been in the
studio now
at all things comedy for one month it's exciting and this is what episode four
we've been in the
studio do you feel like you've changed since we moved into the studio because i
feel like you have
in what way way more energy yeah way more like kind of in focused into it like
it's a different
medium for you you think it's like nerves or do you think you're just excited
what is it no because
it's more fun i mean i i do pod i know you don't like me mentioning it but i am
a professional
podcaster at this point the podcast is in the studio to me you know it's here
it's in the room
when we're at our house and i'm trying to like keep my voice down because the
kids are there
and there's stresses and there's not the same uh energy this is more fun it's
definitely not nerves
i would describe your energy as like a teacher in the first week of coming like
coming to the school
where they want to like they want to like inspire the kids and grab them and
like get them all like
they want to be the favorite you're like that i but some teachers keep that
going forever last week
we taped early so i could get back to my son's open house uh and his teacher
who's been there for
almost 20 years had that energy and you know why because she loves the game
shout out to miss
goldman uh i mean i'm a long time listener miss goldman i feel like it's uh the
same for me uh
with my job at the nfl that enthusiasm and liking your job goes a long way like
i hate sports announcers
that either clearly don't like their job or fake liking their job but you can
tell the ones that
genuinely like and i do i do like doing this a lot better maybe i maybe i didn't
realize it uh
compared to being at her house it is much more fun i feel like when it comes to
sports announcers i
think everyone loves their job you're just announcing sports it's great no but
there's some i know them
a lot of them are so bitter and bored by it they're alcoholics i think they
still love their job but
they're alcoholics so they're miserable doing it but there's either it's either
you're a drinker
a lot of them are ex-players that are that are just like that are just bored by
it and they're
alcoholics and they're like trying not to uh be like be um anti-gay on the air
they're just like
praying that they see the light when when they come back on the air there is
something to that and
you know what i you you asked if i was like you know if it's nerves or whatever
i think it's the other
way around i mean there's i definitely have more energy but i think being at
home and just being in
that that box i was in like a dark room essentially with weird lights and the
kid you know the kids
are near i keep mentioning that um anthony's like withering glare over zoom or
or stream yard it was
and and whatever comments if i mess up during the show coming at me uh is less
human when when i'm
just like in my room so if anything i was more nervous there a little more on
edge where it's here
it's just like okay uh i'm gonna take some heat but this is just my friend anthony
of 24 years it's
more normal to be in person so you enjoy being around me more than your family
that's what you're
saying i mean being around your family kind of like stomps you down when we're
doing this show
sure but i would say yeah the average time spent around you it's a high like
there's very few like
really like tough times i would say and there's definitely some downs around
the family some yelling
some total lack of respect uh coming my way i mean if you think about it like
your relationship with
me over 24 years has earned you a lot of money has earned you you'd like to
think so hundreds of
thousands i think in your world in this like anthony world where like he's the
hero of the play
you're the main character which you should be in your life but you're not in my
life that's not true
um in your world there like a few years ago you almost seemed like you wanted
my job at the nfl to
go poorly so that this podcast could be like my prime source of income me
wanting your job at the
nfl to go poorly has nothing to do with this podcast even if we didn't have a
podcast here
we were just friends i would want you to get fired from the nfl why you should
be you should be happy
there's only one um it's not like when you get fired from the nfl my career
would be over but i'm
probably not replacing it at the same level so that's just like wishing worse
for me and my family
financially i think i just have a more of like a higher moral center that i
couldn't i don't think
i'd work could work for the nfl the way that you can the way you can just kind
of shove aside
like all your values and just you know talk about the nfl and what they do with
with deshaun watson
and what you would say i we i speak the truth on who's your favorite punter
uh i have a lot of favorite punters um why am i blanking on what the name of
the
patriots left-footed punter is he's he's great who was wasn't that field goal
kicker who had like
no toes i mean i think back in the day that was maybe a story there was a guy
who had like a club
foot who just kicked the shit out of the ball he was awesome he had like a shoe
that was like
like a look like a hoof shout out to jake bailey by the way sorry that guy had
the record for the
longest field goal i think uh it's been tied since then for for a long time was
that tom dempsey um
i think that it was broken i mean justin tucker hit a 70 yarder last year so it's
definitely been
broken uh but that might have been at two lane stadium you're right it was it
was a story back in
the day do you feel weird that aaron just out nfl'd you and i kind of did in
the way i support it up
like aaron and i are on the same team i want aaron's success like i don't want
all things comedy to go
poorly for him so that he somehow has to rely on us that doesn't even make
sense aaron how long have
you been working for all things comedy seven and a half years seven and a half
years yeah what's the
best podcast you've produced in that time this is a layup aaron oh it's a
junior vice president
fuck yeah this one that's all i needed from you um let's move on i got one
month one month exactly
until the tour date start i'm very excited for that just one month 30 some days
uh i'm just i've
got a few more jokes to put in i've got some new jokes this week i'm very
excited about trying out and
looking forward to getting on the road i've got i love the uh the material that
i have and i'm going
to be adding some classics over the past 20 years to and you're still trying to
add new material oh yeah
i win i will be throughout uh throughout the the next you know year and a half
i was sad that you
got rid of that story because that was like you were so excited about it when
it came about i was
and then i just it's like some people tell stories and they tell them over and
over again and it sounds
like the first time every time great but some people tell a story and the
second time they tell it it
just g
