review of oppenheimer uh where we'd like to live overseas and a story about
becoming a dog all coming
up on episode 214 of the ep jessel nick and rosenthal vanity project j-r-v-p
junior vice president
i don't know what that uh quotes there from you don't you know what it's from aaron
you know what it's from
of course yeah peewee's big adventure uh maybe my favorite line of peewee
herman i'm a loner doughty
a rebel uh but i loved i mean i loved uh paul rubens uh way more than peewee i
liked peewee when
i was a kid i i watched peewee uh but i thought he as an artist was incredible
and uh i loved to love
paul rubens i talked to my man we my manager used to represent him back then i
actually met paul rubens
once uh we talked about it uh when we went to go see oppenheimer but aaron do
you have you ever told
you my meeting paul rubens story no i've never heard this one either until friday
it was awesome
met him a long time ago uh at my manager's 30th birthday party this is like 15
years ago and uh she
i didn't know this but she used to represent uh paul rubens and he was at the
party and i was just
there like i was in my late 20s i've been on tv a couple of times and i'm just
like talking to some
friends and like i never got recognized ever and i'm talking to some friends
and uh paul rubens
walks up and as soon as he walks up i'm like holy shit that's peewee but i know
enough not to ever say
peewee it's like paul rubens he walks right up to me just right up to me
interrupts the conversation
and says are you anthony jeselnik and i'm like i cannot believe this is
happening i'm like yeah
and he goes uh i'm a huge fan of your work shakes my hand and i'm like thank
you so much paul and i'm
so happy i say paul like i'm like thank you so much i know who you are and i'm
respectful and before
i can even like get paul out of my mouth he's gone he like shook my hand and
walked and like left the
party and i turned to my friends and i was like did you guys all see that and
they were like yeah
and then i just like floated on air for the rest i was so happy never i always
assumed i would see him
again maybe work together uh but never did and was uh was very sad when uh when
he passed but
died at 70 you know seems like he had a uh had a good life my manager i talked
to was like i emailed
with him like a week ago had no idea he was sick at all um but that's i think
that's the way to go
that's the way to uh to do it but i i re-watched peewee's big adventure uh this
week or last week
to uh just remember the guy it's a great movie tim burton it's one of tim burton's
best
for sure still yeah yeah tim burton fell off a fucking cliff early tim burton
is great and then
you're like oh wait this sucks and then everything's gonna suck after that big
fish is where it turned
maybe i mean i didn't mind big fish but i felt like that was it was like hmm i'm
not so sure about
this was big fish him may even yeah because i'm confusing with big eyes which
was also also timber
big fish you're like think maybe this is going to be good you don't realize you're
in tim burton's
decline but i mean what's what's the last good tim burton movie uh whatever
came before planet
the apes that's probably the decline i don't know if it was even because i
think maybe batman returns
is where is his his nadir wow so you think 85 to 92 sleepy hollow sleepy hollow
is good that was that
was like late 90s that was solid edward's great edward scissorhands is great edward
scissorhands holds up
really well oh yeah that's early burton okay what's the last one are you
looking at his imdb right now
what's after sleepy hollow i mean it's not the imdb it's out of order it's like
a ranking um
i'll look for you but we've really sidetracked this paul rubin conversation was
he a little guy
just he was small yeah he wasn't he was i've seen some pictures of him when he
was like in his
younger 20s he's like he kind of reminds me of my brother you know like a
handsome younger jewish
guy he was great had a great life he we i was uh really messed up when i heard
the news i uh
fully broke down really not pretty yeah i was i was bummed liz was bummed but i
like to remember him
uh i loved it i loved his work he wasn't he was great in batman returns yep he's
in it for like
five seconds but i remembered it uh what was it um buffy the vampire slayer the
original movie
fucking sucked but paul rubens is great yeah mystery man he's like the only
good mystery man
yeah yeah although dane cook's best performance probably
i was i was trying to find tim burton this whole time there's other tim burtons
on imdb which is very
uh annoying i think we should get rid of them i think yeah we're not doing this
anymore
um tim burton is bad now it's official wednesday sucked i watched every episode
it sucked wait
really people like it yeah it's not that doesn't mean it's good no people like
big bang theory it's
bad what was your question there there was uh what's what's what did he make
after sleepy hollow
sleepy hollow might be his last there's too many uh producer i i'm not i'm
giving up on this i got
i got it here uh let's see it's terrible you're so bad at this greg sleepy
hollow then planet
the apes 2001 yeah i think sleepy hollow is his last good movie because planet
of the apes
is hot garbage because before that you got mars attacks mars attacks is good edward
batman returns
yeah batman beetlejuice you heard it here for a sleepy hollow the last good
movie made by tim burt
it's a fact anyway i came in pissed off today i came into the podcast angry one
of those were like oh
we one day i'll be able to end this podcast never do this again i'll be happier
for it
where i come in and i've talked about this before on the podcast i drive in i
get here
i got my arms loaded up with shit and i walk in and the fucking door is locked
the front door of a of a business of offices is locked almost every time the
doorbell aaron does
it work i was checking in on no it does not it it made they fixed it enough
that this time when i hit
it i can hear a noise normally last couple times i hit the button nothing
happens yeah i gotta maybe
maybe hope that somewhere in the building there's a room where they can hear
the doorbell and i just
stand there for a while i'll sometimes i'll text aaron and maybe a little while
later he'll walk
out all sheepish be like yeah this time the i can hear the bell ringing so
thinking maybe someone's
coming no it's also hot in that little it's hot in that little area it's hot in
the little area i've
got my arms loaded with stuff and i've got to take a piss so i it's the trifecta
i hit the button twice
i hit the button twice and finally i see greg walk into frame come out and open
the door and he's like
hey and i'm mad i know greg means well i know greg is my friend and i'm happy
to see greg but i
immediately he opens the door and i just start yelling at him i start yelling
at him right away
and where greg is like surprised kind of like kind of laughing i was shocked
you said god damn it
someone give me the code yes well i'll get to this so then i i yelled someone
give me the code because
no one thinks they can resolve the issue by just giving me the fucking code to
get in the door what
they think i'm going to do with the code is unclear but i do not have it and so
every time i just stand
there and the parking lot's full everyone who works at all things comedy is
here right now and yet no
one answered the door so when greg answers the door and i start yelling then i'm
starting to come
down a little bit i'm like i shouldn't be yelling at greg this is ridiculous greg's
nothing to do with
this and then greg lets me know that he didn't hear the doorbell he was just
walking by and happened
to see me and then i go to a whole new level of anger i was going to the car to
get something
yeah so i could have been out there forever aaron what why do you have a trap
at the front door
because we have had an uh an unlawful unlawful entry once once how long ago it's
been probably a
year and a half well what do you think it was like a comedian or something no
it was a person who wanted
to see somebody who had no reason to see that okay but when i came to uh all
things comedy
today i was i was in the waiting room and i and i have the code i have the code
it's not and i don't
i'm not gonna say it here it's not because it was given to you why can't we
have it why did what do
you mean it was not because i was given to me i have it and then i sent it to
myself and i never
remember it and then i'm checking my mail to try to remember it it's been a
while it's still a little
tricky i'm sitting there sweating and i finally get it right as aaron comes in
and the first thing
he says to me is you shouldn't have the code he's like you should not have the
code i was like i work
here i at this point they he's thinking of changing the code just because i
know about it i was like
i literally work here he's like well technically you don't i was like of course
i'm coming to work
and this is it and we get paid for it no you're absolutely right and i i was
wrong about that i was
seconds from kicking the door because i know i can i can probably get in this
motherfucker
if i need to what i'm gonna kick that door in i'm gonna come and do that that
day's podcast and then
i'm never coming back here like i don't understand whatever you think is worst
case scenario of some
asshole off the street walking here trying to get out magical's autograph
cannot be as bad as what i'm
going to do one day when i roll in here and that thing is locked what have you
talked to uh billy
billy doesn't want to hear it billy doesn't truly just doesn't want to hear it
he goes earmuffs and
he puts on the earmuffs and then he's like i can't hear you so i'm not talking
to him i'm i'm talking
to bill right now i'm talking to everyone here i could not do this and it
wouldn't change anything
other than my tuesday afternoon would be a little different and again anyone
who's listening to this
i like you aaron greg i'm not mad at you right now but i am very very mad about
this stupid stupid thing
that is so ridiculous like hey maybe it's a thing hey and i know anthony's
coming soon let's open the
door for him that would be great so when you yelled out to me and i didn't even
pause i just walked right
by you b
