vanity project jrvp
junior vice president you think you're special you do i can see it in your eyes
i can see it when
you laugh at me look down on me and walk around on me
you know the you know what that quote's from wrath of god no wrath of man it's
not from wrath of man
honestly there's only like four words of dialogue spoken in the entire movie i'm
not gonna be quoting
wrath of man but aaron you know what that's from right i don't are you guys
fucking kidding me
i thought this was a podcast for bros and dudes and i'm looking at my bros and
my dudes and they're
not getting it that's from my way by limp biscuit from the album chocolate starfish
in the hot dog
flavored water from 2000 that's my way i googled special quote and that's one
of the first things
that came up and i was like aaron's gonna get this for sure greg might not you
know greg's got a
daughter and a son so he's not he's out of that world he's out of the we were
in college during
limp biscuits heyday no one was listening to limp biscuit look our friends look
limp biscuit wasn't
that cool until the year 2000 when chocolate covered starfish and the hot dog
flavored water came out
that's when people really jumped on board or you just weren't a bro or a dude
it's my way by limp biscuit not frank sinatra limp biscuit and they say the
word special guys if
this is how the podcast is going to start i may as well just go out and film
another special right now
does feel looser in the studio today just not as tense look i came in you're
wearing a leather jacket
brand new leathers brand new leathers i uh i filmed my special this weekend in
milwaukee
and the paps theater uh texted liz like a couple hours before the special she's
like hmm interesting
i'm like what and she's like the paps theater wants to know what size leather
jacket you wear
and i was like they should fucking know this and then i showed up and they gave
me a this is a
harley davidson uh leather jacket like it's got harley davidson on the back uh
it's cool it's like
the coolest one it doesn't it's it's got like the black lettering uh and this
is for like if you are
legit going to crash your motorcycle you want to be wearing this it's got a
hood so i don't have to
wear a helmet i'm like ben roethlisberger up in this bitch okay i'll kiss every
car i fucking drive
drive around but anyway they gave me this i was happy the hat is from the uh
the paps theater gift
shop old style that's a beer even though i no longer drink i'm gonna rock it
and this is what
i've been wearing ever since i taped the special just this and i'm gonna wear
it until the leather
falls apart which it'll never do because i never crash ask me how the special
taping went how'd it go
i messed the gun well if you're gonna wear that for the rest of uh eternity
because that that jacket's
not falling apart that's not falling apart i'm gonna bury me in this jacket i
don't need a coffin
anymore just wrap me up in this and drop me on the lawn i'll be there a while
um special taping went
great uh it's always a process with these things um i'm a crazy person and i
won't i will not be
actually satisfied and rest until i see the cut because i said this to my
manager i said what i have
in my head is so great that i hope that when i watch it on screen that i feel
the same way
uh we did two tapings and the pabst is kind of like a small theater things are
on top of each other
and it's legendary every comic talks about the green room the green room is
incredible you have
like servers there's a barista uh barista making coffee for you just for you uh
and people in the
crew uh your own server coming around all that's gone during the taping because
they're using that
for control rooms and shit and it's packed backstage there's nowhere to move
because there's so much
crew and everything that i'm like a little annoyed it's a little claustrophobic
and then uh first show
was great but we did things we changed things for taping you know i didn't get
introduced the way i
normally would uh things changed a little bit and i was just like after the
first taping i was like you
know what i want those things changed back and we changed them back everyone's
working with me i got
i had a great crew great director christy smith was in the house handling her
business and then the
second taping i go out with everything changed back and i'm like i walk off
stage and i'm like oh my god
that's the show that is so much better than the first show and everyone's
looking at me like i'm insane
and like anthony they were the same they were exactly the same you were crazy
you being frustrated and you
being happy are the same uh but uh the streaming service who i believe i'm
doing it with apparently i
wasn't supposed to announce anything for a while so we're we're walking it back
who knows where it's
gonna go i mean are we gonna go back into old episodes of the jessel nick and
rosenthal vanity
project junior vice president and like scrub out the streaming service name
because you've been
talking about it on this podcast for a few months listen just because i talked
about it doesn't mean i
was right if you go back you can clearly tell that i am either joking or wrong
towards the streamer
about about about the streamer maybe i didn't even tape it in milwaukee maybe
my jacket is a lie
maybe this hat is from another city and i just can't divulge that information
but the streaming
service is very happy so i'm happy and i cannot wait to see a cut what's
annoying is we can't i can't
even see a cut they don't even start editing this until after the netflix is a
joke festival for
whatever reason i don't know why that's the thing but that that festival which
has nothing to do
with the streaming service i may or may not end up i listen i still might
charge my fans for it
make them all pay for it and then put it on youtube later i still might do that
i might change the game
right who knows and and if you were on the patreon uh between 6 and 7 a.m on
saturday you got to hear
that free preview but you had to just be on the patreon at that time streaming
i'm glad you brought
up the patreon i've seen some complaints people saying anthony how come you're
charging us twice a
month it's bi-monthly we're gonna charge you twice in one month every month you're
paying for 24 months
of content in a year that's how much we respect our fans so either pay the
money or go listen to a
lesser podcast that doesn't value themselves the way we value ourselves i i
want to hear all about
this day but when you're talking good show bad show first show second show it
would no no such thing
is a bad show no i was i was i was frustrated with uh with the different things
like hey maybe your
your opener doesn't need to introduce you on stage you guys shouldn't cross
like we'll do it like
this and i was like let's do it exactly the way we do it in a normal show that
i've been
practicing for a year and a half the second time the first time like okay and
it did i was a little
bit like but you're just pumped up special taping well and because you have
maybe because you have
another one to go but what i was going to say is like i feel like late night
show hosts and obviously
a special is different it's it's forever it it's what you're putting out there
now four times in your
life that that's like here's what i do so it's a different thing but when they
talk about like oh
tonight was a great show and the next day they're really pissed that it's bad
like the 98 of the
audience probably doesn't know any difference and that is that's probably true
of your audience but
i trust your instincts and unlike the people there not like the first one was
any better or worse than
the second one but whatever little vibe things that you had that you were like
feeling uh that were
different between the two there probably was like that little microscopic
difference that maybe that
no one watching could really tell a difference but if you if you were feeling
like the second one
was fucking amazing then i bet a lot of the second one is gonna be what people
see at home i think they were both
great i think i felt better in the second one but i am such a pro at this point
almost 22 years in
having practiced so much that you cannot tell the difference in me like i just
want to see what does
it does what i have in my head show up on the screen it's uh but but again they
were they were great just
anyone there would be like oh he killed that was amazing will it show up on the
screen the way you want it
to but uh listen everyone is everyone is very very happy and i am the stress is
coming off me i did not
really sleep that night um i had my brother and uh his eight months pregnant
wife come back up to the
suite we ordered some pizzas uh and just kind of hung out and talked for a
little bit and then he's like
at 3 a.m he's like hey my eight month pregnant wife wants to go to bed and i'm
like aren't you my
fucking brother aren't you here for me you got a month until that kid comes
then you can worry about
what time it is when everybody goes to bed you're gonna stay up and eat this
cold pizza with me
and listen to me tell you rumors that i've heard about daniel tosh that's what
we're doing
was liz still awake at that point yes liz was up liz stayed awake almost long
how was the whole
weekend having liz there for your you know for the first time on a special and
just like how would the
day leading up to it all that were you still as um wrath of manny what is it
wrath of man you know
were you still watching that every night where you what was the whole process
like i didn't get to
watch anything really in the hotel i'll tell you this the one thing i didn't
like about the weekend
and i love milwaukee i love the theater everything the hotel was and this is
the nicest hotel in
milwaukee it was also the drunkest place i've ever been in my entire life
everyone is
fucking hammered in this hotel and like wandering the hallways my brother goes
together pick up the
pizzas after the special taping that we were three pizzas they're down at the
front desk i'm like
mike you got to go get them i can't go down i'm not going downstairs he goes
down he said he gets
the pizzas and they're just sitting there on the front desk he gets them into
the elevator and all
of a sudden before the doors close a guy gets in completely blackout wasted and
it's like pizzas
i was yeah pizzas and he's like papa john's he's like no they're not papa john's
he's like those are
my pizzas and then he's like riding the elevator up to my floor and the guy's
like those those are my
pizzas and my brother's like they're not your pizzas man they're not your
pizzas and then i like my brother
gets out i open the door for him and the guy's just wandering up and down the
halls looking for
pizzas everyone was so drunk and so loud that i
